If you are ambushed out of nowhere, out-numbered 5-1, you can be down before you even understand what is happening.

Even to a Marine. A surprise attack can catch anyone.

I have been attacked by four or five people at once and put on the ground to be kicked and punched...It isn’t like the movies. You have to cover up and try to get your head together instead of doing roundhouse kicks or something.

I don’t fault these Marines for not kicking the asses of the mob attacking them.

I blame those mob scumbags.

What a couple of pussies. Have to cover their faces. Pussies.

Yep. As Stalin (supposedly) once said, “Quantity has a quality all its own.”

Absolutely. The element of surprise, especially with large numbers, is a terrible situation on the receiving end. These Marines probably stood no chance of coming out unscathed.
That’s why personal “situational awareness” of one’s surroundings is so important these days. It’s almost as important as good shot placement. Most folks walk around totally oblivious to their entire surroundings and what’s going on around them. Personally, I try to avoid places that compromise my safety if I can at all help it. I watch everybody near me the best I can when out in public, especially walking thru large parking lots, getting into/out of the vehicle at fuel stations etc. Some folks would probably say I am really “paranoid”. No, I’m not. I’m staying safe. I conceal carry and keep a loaded 9mm in my pocket in a pocket holster (yes, with one in the tube ready to go). Nobody gets closer than 20’ and my hand in my pocket and already on it. I know from actual past experience that even an old, has-been hippie can cover 20’ in less than 3 seconds. Since I’m not a LEO, I “profile” individuals and do so with absolutely no shame whatsoever. If they even look like they’re gonna cause trouble and closing in towards me, the safety goes off and I’m ready to immediately draw & fire if need be. At age 68, I’m way too old to fight em by hand. I’m just gonna do what I have to do to protect my life as well as my loved ones. I pray to God that it never has to come to that situation, but IF/WHEN it does, I’d rather be prepared and tried by 12 rather than carried by 6.
FWIW, I go to the range at least 1/week..sometimes 2-3 times in nicer weather. Practice, practice, practice....not just ordinary target shooting, but practice safely drawing and firing from the hip at close range. It takes practice to do it right. When under severe duress in a bad situation, it’s even harder to do with one’s fear and adrenaline flow trying to take over control of one’s body. Don’t ask me how I know this.
It’s a damn shame America has come to this....but thanks to the commie lib politicians, unfortunately, it has.
Learn to protect yourself, remain aware of your surroundings at all times and stay safe, folks.
