The Harvey Weinstein scandal has a lot of moving parts headed towards an important hearing next week that will set the next stage in the criminal proceeding. On one end, Weinstein has been pushing a Delaware bankruptcy court to allow him to recover files maintained by The Weinstein Co. and then permit him to use those emails and other documents to defend himself from sexual assault charges in New York. On the other end, there's still pending civil lawsuits including one class action from his many accusers. On Thursday, those women sounded the alarm about Weinstein's efforts.
"He should not be able to play federal courts in different jurisdictions with diametrically-opposed positions," states twin motions arguing for both a protective order and for the civil action to proceed.
First, the protective order.
It's partly in response to Weinstein's efforts to obtain emails between him and his accusers and then hold up those communications as exculpatory evidence.
"In fact, Weinsteins criminal defense lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, told Plaintiffs counsel he intended to unleash these emails in the media to sway the court of public opinion. Despite these threats, Weinstein has not produced any of the documents with Plaintiffsand discovery is not open in this case."

Did some solicit favors from Harvey, then accuse him?
That probably goes without saying...to some extent they were complicit
I bet they do. (Want to ban him from disclosing their solicitous emails.)
Hi Harvey!
It’s been such a long time since we spoke.
I just wanted to let you know I’m very, very interested in that emerging part in (movie)!
Maybe I could stop by sometime and we can discuss it?
My number is.....
Of course they did. Weinstein is a sleazebag, but these “actresses” were tripping all over themselves to get close to him.
Ill do anything for that role, Mr. Weinstein. ANYTHING!
Demonrat email addresses are sacred. GOP email addresses are freely publicized.
They are probably worried about them saying “You helped so and so because she screwed you. You screwed me so I want some help”.
Well, probably stuff like “Oh Mr. Weinstein, I just love your work and thank you so much for the audition and if you cast me in that role I will XXXX your XXXX any time you want!”
They want to portray themselves as completely innocent victims, rather than whores who, after the fact, decided that they were unsatisfied with what they received in exchange.
Let me guess, “ooh, Harvey, I would do anything to get the part, ANYTHING.”
Yeah, I can see why something that doesnt fit the narrative would want to be suppressed.
Hmmm... You mean there might be 2 sides to these stories?
I’m convinced Harvey is/was a nasty slob running loose among the nasty slobs, of Ghoulywood, but can’t muster a sympathetic tone for ANY of these nasty slob mob victims. They get equity with men and then don’t get their way.. and they wanna sue about it. Ick.
As sleazy and slimy as Harvey is, he should be granted access to the e-mails.
He had something they wanted and vice versa.
He couldn’t get a date without promising influence and THEY couldn’t get into show biz without a date with him.
So they’re admitting that they had no talent to get along on their own and had to get ‘points’ with him.
The whole thing is nauseating.

Gee, we will find out how much they were kissing up to him?
