The Department of Homeland Security claimed in a statement Friday that the 7-year-old migrant girl who died in their custody was not ill upon an initial screening and was offered food and water.
The father and daughter, identified by a Guatemalan official as Nery Caal and Jakelin Caal, crossed the U.S. border into New Mexico in a remote location 90 miles from the nearest Border Patrol station
The father denied that Jackeline was ill and signed a form indicating that there were no visible signs of trauma and that the child appeared to be in good health, according to a copy reviewed by the Associated Press.
“At this time, they were offered water and food and had access to restrooms,” DHS claimed.
The Caal family crossed the border with a group of nearly 200 migrants — the nearest ports of entry were allegedly too small to handle a sizeable group of migrants and did not have adequate medical services. Border Patrol intended to transport the migrants by bus to Lordsburg, 90 minutes away, in two groups.
According to the AP, there were 50 unaccompanied migrant children on the first bus to Lordsburg.
When the bus returned for its second trip to pick up more migrants, including Nery and Jackeline Caal, Nery informed Border Patrol agents that his daughter had fallen ill and was vomiting.
Out of an abundance of caution, agents immediately requested that an EMT meet the bus on arrival at the Lordsburg station,”
The child was revived twice before a helicopter arrived to transport her to a children’s hospital, but she passed away at Providence Hospital due to sepsis shock.

The interesting part of this story is that the illegals are still pouring in where there is no port of entry and being taken in and processed. They didn't send any military backup to New Mexico.

What an abysmal failure this handling of the “caravan”/invasion was! Much hoopla about stopping the entry into our country, but thousands of ignorant peasants were smart enough to break up into hundreds and are crossing into our country anywhere they want. They’ve used this tactic since the Obama-era invasions, so it’s not that it came as a surprise to DHS.
Let’s face it. The government of the USA is a pitiful, helpless giant when it comes to dealing with illegal immigration. And that is the main reason for building a wall that will at least stand in the way of pregnant peasant women and small children.

I can’t believe this crap. According to America’s Fake News Headquarters, Americans torture them, waterboard them, starve them to death and won’t give them a drink of water at the border and yet they continue to come by the millions. Just how stupid are these immigrants anyway?

Migrants crossed the plains in wagon trains or on horseback, like in the settlement by Americans of the American continent.
Those days are over—we’re a modern country with modern borders. You need approval and permission to cross those borders. We already have a process to legally settle here. We let in 100 times more people to legally immigrate here than any other country. Legal people, those who follow the law, which should be a MINIMUM for being allowed in, follow this process.
They’re not migrants, they’re ILLEGAL ALIENS. They know what the process is, but decide to ignore or circumvent it.
They are blatantly breaking our LAWS.

I’m sure the father didn’t want to mention any illness the girl had, perhaps thinking she would be deported because of it. How little he knew.
Exactly..its not our damn job to give these people shelter. They come here for the freebies which the Dems promise them in return for their vote. The second they come to the border, turn their asses around. We have enough AMERICANS who need actual help

Exactly. These parents are responsible for putting their children in such a dangerous position. I don’t imagine, however, that the countries they left have any interest in them or their kids.
Any idea how many troops it would take to stop every hole in the 2000 mile border? Congress needs get off it’s ass and fund the wall.
