Venezuela’s gun ban is working out perfectly for the socialist agenda

While it may seem hard to believe, there was a time when the citizens of Venezuela were allowed to keep and bear arms. This wasn’t the distant past we’re talking about either. It was only in 2012 that the socialist government of Hugo Chavez enacted the “Control of Arms, Munitions and Disarmament Law.” When it was passed, the authors of the legislation pulled no punches, saying that the explicit purpose of the law was to “disarm all citizens.”

That bill was spectacularly successful, massively reducing the volume of privately owned firearms. Then, when the new tyrant, Nicolas Maduro took power and sent his swarms of federal troops and government “militias” out into the streets to crush any opposition to his regime, the unarmed populace had little recourse in the face of government guns. This fact is highlighted by a Venezuelan educator now living in exile in Ecuador.

You know there are plenty of fidiots in our own country that have wet panties dreaming of the day when they'll achieve this goal. Good luck with that. And yes, I know there are FReepers that will NOT look at anything from hotair.com, so I don't need reminded.

I voted Yes in their poll.

The Left/Police Staters here will use every tool available to take away people’s guns. They’re waiting until they consolidate their power.

Yes there are. They would love to execute the wrong thinkers that they see as in the war to their dream of a socialist/Marxist state, and the mass confiscation of guns would allow them to dance in our blood.

The last chance to put up a fight is when they come for your firearms. After that, resistance becomes academic.

It’s too bad these Millennials can’t pull their eyes off their smart phones long enough to see that the Socialism they desire is a death trap.

How do people not understand that when the government comes for anyone’s guns, the civil war must start that day?

I just saw a new NetFlix documentary on the crisis in Venezuela and the entire thing showed how bad it is down there.

What was the verdict? Populism - like Trump!

Not Socialism, like Bernie and Ocasio-Cortez!

Incredible. People there still think that Chavez was the hero and Maduro ruined it at the last minute.

You can’t make this stuff up - you can’t fix this level of stupidity.

Highlights of the Venezuelan Law:

*A program allowing citizens to voluntarily trade in their arms for electrical goods

*A tally of only 37 recorded voluntary gun surrenders

*Meanwhile, more than 12,500 gun confiscations were conducted by force

*Broadcasted displays of public weapons demolitions in the town square

American citizens would do well to train for the eventuality of forced confiscations.

Our Second Amendment protects our First Amendment.
==========

Only on paper. While the 1st Amendment is a RIGHT, the 2nd is only a privilege.

It's a privilege that requires government permission to exercise.

And it's been a privilege since it was made a privilege by the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA68).

Unless GCA68 is repealed, they will erode away what we have left of the 2nd Amendment until it's gone.

Bet on it.

Ferdinand Marcos did the same in the Philippines backin the early 1970s.
First Registration. The US news media loved him and wanted the same for us.
Then came Confiscation. Again the news media loved him.

Then, Seizure of power. The US news media could not believe their eyes that this was happening!

The rest of us saw it coming years before.

“And what exactly would YOU do first?”

An excellent and troubling question, one that I now ponder every day. Am I prepared to do the unthinkable? Even in retirement are there things more precious to me than life itself?

Where I live, a NJ or CA or NY situation is unlikely. BTW, kudos to one million Jerseyites who are defying the magazine ban. Are they prepared for their antigun governor to go rogue & send forth his flying monkeys?

As to your question, I’m open to ideas.

You can. It's called Eugenics. The problem has always been sorting the culls out of the population.

We have a unique opportunity. Anyone so far over on the IQ Bell Curve that they would happily vote for HRC or Bernie is a cull. We already have the lists, on file with the FEC. Anyone who registered with (D). This trims out the bottom of the Curve. Without regard for race, gender, national origin, or creed.

What the hey? They hate us, anyhow...

[[Are they prepared for their antigun governor to go rogue & send forth his flying monkeys?]]

He won’t- he will send them one by one, case by case, so that there isn’t a mass uprising in protest- individuals will be arrested and declared felons, never to be allowed to own a gun again- and noone, or very very few, will resist with force- most people will quietly hand over their guns because not enough people will stand behind them and say “Nope- not giving them up” when confronted by law enforcement

Nope, nobody in office has the nuts to get rid of GCA68.

Let's get rid of the government permission to own regular firearms before we get creative.
