Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey has appointed fellow Republican Rep. Martha McSally to the Senate, he announced Tuesday, picking a favorite of GOP leaders to fill the seat John McCain held for decades.
McSally, who lost a close race for Arizona’s other Senate seat this year, will succeed Sen. Jon Kyl (R). Kyl will step down at the end of the year following a brief time in McCain’s seat after McCain’s death in August.
“With her experience and long record of service, Martha is uniquely qualified to step up and fight for Arizona’s interests in the U.S. Senate. I thank her for taking on this significant responsibility,” Ducey said in a statement.
McSally is expected to run for the seat in a 2020 special election, setting the stage for a potential marquee contest in a battleground state. The seat will also be on the ballot in 2022.

I concur with your opinion, but write separately to note that McSally has not been, and will not be, “towing the line,” although she certainly has been, and I expect her to continue, *toeing* the line. : )
More: GOP source tells me this was a “done deal” for a month, that Trump wanted her.
Well there is this: “McSally was expected to run as the establishment candidate in the Republican primary, where her opponents included former State Senator Kelli Ward and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio. McSally, a strong fundraiser, was the preferred candidate of national Republicans and Arizona Governor Doug Ducey. McSally’s history of criticizing President Donald Trump drew rebuke from conservative groups including the Club for Growth, the Senate Conservatives Fund, and FreedomWorks. McSally has historically maintained some distance from Trump, choosing not to endorse him in 2016 and calling his comments about sexual assault “disgusting” and “unacceptable.”—Wikipedia

According to most pilots that knew her in the Air Force she was not a good pilot. She was a feminist whiner always complaining. She was also a terrible candidate. She has the personality of a door-knob.

Your most important point — McSally is now a RINO Senator WHO OWES TRUMP NOTHING....NOTHING!! She owes her current Senate seat solely to Governor Ducey.
