White House will back down on demand for border wall funding to avert government shutdown

The White House wants to avoid a partial government shutdown and has found other ways to get the border wall President Trump is demanding, spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Tuesday.

Sanders’ comments come four days before large portions of the federal government will begin shutting down unless Congress and Trump act first.

Trump has been demanding $5 billion from Congress for his border wall, which Democrats refuse to give.

But Sanders told Fox News Channel: “We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion.”

“At the end of the day we don’t want to shut down the government, we want to shut down the border,” Sanders said.

Sanders said the White House was exploring other funding sources and believed it could be legally done.

“Trump has something up his sleeve.... I hope.”

That is most likely the situation.

The most likely scenario is Ryan and McConnell told POTUS they would override his veto of a funding bill with no wall money and Trump caved now rather than fight a GOP Civil War on the “shut down” issue.

If Trump backs down to the likes of Chuck the schmuck and Pelosi, he’s finished.

We are so done. Sad.... America was nice while it lasted....lets all pray for a financial collapse so that the fat and lazy AH may do something other than watch sports, porn and fill their faces with fast food. People are so removed from their freedoms that they dont care as long as they are taken care of...only collapse will break the hold on their brains.

” If this accelerates the collapse of the country, then I regret voting for him and hopes he rots in hell.”

Really...he is one man. Yet many on here continue on their ways and vote everyday for the collapse of this country...where do you spend your money? That is voting with your wallet.

I would rather go over the cliff at 100mph than just putter over it...lets get it on. RINOs are just holding back the eventual - embrace the suck cause its gonna get real bad real soon.

I would say this has been a very bad day for the President and thinking there is no way he can rebound from the bad press coming at him like a train from multiple directions.

Couple that with the logic of a good portion of the country (remember we are divided almost 50/50 dem/rep) and you get what we have been getting for so long.

A good example of the liberal logic on the wall is something I heard at the hospital the other day while I was waiting for my wife to get prepped for surgery...

A lady reads a headline and exclaims to all within earshot “he wants 5 billion for the wall and he wants us to pay for it!” and then proceeds to say “I don’t even know how he got in anyway” (got elected).

Classic MN lib thought pattern - saying idiotic things like “and he expects us to pay for it” all the while ignoring the real costs of illegal immigration that are being footed by all Americans as is, which far outstrip the cost of building the wall and border enforcement if it was taken seriously.

Most people can’t think beyond one sentence uttered from their own stupid mouths, let alone have the capacity to break themselves free from the rigid thinking that has been sold to them as diversity, tolerance and kindness.

We will not get a wall, more and more illegals will be imported - aggressively so; and sooner rather than later we will have no semblance of sovereignty or ability to regain it.

I am a realist, not a defeatist. We have been and will continue to be played.

Some strange rule, where they need 60 votes in the Senate.

There is a triple amputee veteran Brian Kolfage (https://www.facebook.com/Brian.Kolfage.jr/)

Who has just started a godundme page for the wall (12/16/18). Read his gofundme page for the details.

Already raised $543,873.. I like this. I will contribute. Just think if some big time players stepped up

I sent $50 and wrote on a begging letter from the GOPe that I sent it instead of to the GOPe stupids.

Here it comes, Fox Business is reporting that McConnell is going to introduce a CR in the Senate to fund the government through February 8, 2019. Trump said he would not do this again and if he does, it will be a full cave. If he cannot get Wall funding now, he will certainly not get funding once the Rats officially take over the House.

Not too shabby

average per person is $61.723

If the 62,979,636 Trump voters each gave the $Average then

we get $3,887.3 Million... that is $3.9 Billion...a good start.

Latest update: $558,830 of $1.0B goal Raised by 9,074 people in 2 days

Trouble is, no one cares if the Congress is on record voting to oppose the wall (outside of conservatives). People seem to care about politics only if it potentially damages Trump, or anyone associated with Trump. Strong economy, peace and prosperity...and voters’ reaction in the midterms was “big deal.”

Americans don’t want change: they want the “same old” thing policians have handed them for years: “Give us donations, and then go away and trust us to do what’s best to enhance your pathetic little lives.”

We choose to be collectively dumb as a nation. Overt corruption in our intelligence agencies: so what? Masses of illegals flouting our national security? Whoop-de-doo.

The friggin’ French in their yellow vests have more heart and soul than the American electorate. We’re like a rape victim that timidly surrenders to the rapist, and then after he’s through satisfying his deviant urges, we decide to beg for an encore.

I don’t mean to imply this is the attitude of Freepers, so apologies if it was construed that way. This is my pent-up frustration spilling out.
