White House will back down on demand for border wall funding to avert government shutdown

The White House wants to avoid a partial government shutdown and has found other ways to get the border wall President Trump is demanding, spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said Tuesday.

Sanders’ comments come four days before large portions of the federal government will begin shutting down unless Congress and Trump act first.

Trump has been demanding $5 billion from Congress for his border wall, which Democrats refuse to give.

But Sanders told Fox News Channel: “We have other ways that we can get to that $5 billion.”

“At the end of the day we don’t want to shut down the government, we want to shut down the border,” Sanders said.

Sanders said the White House was exploring other funding sources and believed it could be legally done.

The solution is simple. TAX the welfare and all other benefits received by the illegal aliens. We can come up with the money needed in no time.

You can't tax a government expenditure.

I wouldn’t if I were him.

He doesn’t need this, and quite frankly America does not deserve him.

Our government is going to destroy our country, and we continually re-elect them and do nothing else.

This road ends in a dead end.

It’s all beltway theater and we are being played.

That cannot be said enough. We ARE being played. The whole show is just a theatrical production and a distraction from reality.

Why has Trump waited so long to find an alternate method of funding? He must have known the Rats and GOPe woukd never support funding.

In retrospect, that meeting with Pelosi and Schumer last week comes across as a silly stunt at best and a political disaster at worst.

Apparently Trump was the only one within 100 miles of the White House who knew that the political optics of a "government shutdown" at Christmas time would have been awful for him.

I’ve been paying taxes for 40 years to the feds and have never yet collected one dime from them. All I asked from them was a one time expense on a border wall and I can’t even get that. I no longer feel like an American but an oppressed wage slave. Well, I kind always felt that way anyway. I guess I was naive, thinking that voting made a difference. I know now.

"Military funding. Army Corps of Engineers."

That's exactly where I'm at and said so on other threads. If some bleeding-heart socialist gets a judge to issue an injunction, let the President ignore it. I don't see with any legal wrangling, they could use the Posse Comitatus Act.

"The Posse Comitatus Act is an act that prohibits the federal government from using the armed forces as a posse comitatus for law enforcement, except in cases and circumstances expressly authorized by the Constitution or Act of Congress."

Obviously, the Executive Branch has Constitutional authority to protect our borders. That is NOT internal law enforcement. The Coast Guard protects our borders every day within our territorial waters.

Trump signed an outrageous bill by Ryan only to secure almost a trillion to rebuild our military. 5 billion or 25 billion would be pocket change to a trillion.

And now the stage is set for the next two years. The Dems will see this as a great victory and will now ramp up their resistance.

You can't tax a government expenditure.

Unless it is SS, or medicare part B and d, which can be and are taxed based on the income of the individual, if still working, by virtue of withholding the amount "deemed" prudent based on said income limits.

"Trump can’t afford to back down on this. If he does, the Rats will have him over a barrel for the next two years."

Yes they will. Trump is going to need a highly energized base to support him in the coming impeachment battle. If he backs down on his cornerstone promise to built the wall, he is setting himself up for lower approval ratings and increases the chance that the squishes in the Senate will actually convict him. If he can't get wall funding now with a Republican Congress, he will never get it and the other means will just just be tough talk. Today two Rat Congressmen are broadcasting that they are escorting a group of caravaners across the border to file asylum applications. The millions coming across the border will soon be voting and that will be the beginning of one party rule in the US.

We elected a president to conduct a revolution.

That isn’t how it is done.

Trump is a builder and a deal-maker. He zigs and zags.

We needed revolution to defeat the Marxists. There is no short cut easy way to do that. You’ve got to do it the old fashioned way. It’s hard, it’s destructive, it’s chaos and mayhem. It isn’t going to be pleasant or simple (like electing a president) if it every even happens.

It’s too bad because Trump is well-intentioned, in a different time he could have been a good president. But these are not those times. These are very different days in the history of the nation.

“...and that will be the beginning of one party rule in the US.”

Well, in truth, one party rule has been the case in America for at least most of the current century.

I think that would be the best time. Nobody would be paying attention and hardly anyone would care.
