IMHO it looks bad because last week at a the public meeting with Trump Schumer and Pelosi, Trump said he would be proud to shut the government down as it pertains to wall funding.
Sadly, though probably not the reality, I think it makes him look weak to the casual observer :(
Trump probably realized the Republicans won’t have his back on this one.
Trump is all alone.
