Trump administration officially bans bump stocks

The Trump administration is officially banning bump-fire stocks, senior Justice Department officials told CNN Tuesday.

Under a new federal rule, those who possess the devices, commonly known as bump stocks, will get 90 days to turn them in from the date that the final rule is published in the federal register, which is likely Friday, the officials said.

Bump stocks gained national attention last year after a gunman in Las Vegas rigged his weapons with the devices to fire on concertgoers, killing 58 people. President Donald Trump vowed to outlaw the devices soon after the tragedy, and some lawmakers on Capitol Hill urged him to back a permanent legislative fix.

But opposition from lawmakers and the National Rifle Association ultimately made a regulatory change the only realistic path forward to accomplishing the President's goal.

I can fire my gun with out a bump stock, heck I would have more accuracy as well.

But where were you when the government ‘legally’ stole all the private property in this country?

The idea isn’t to turn them in, the idea is to turn anyone caught with one into an instant felon who can never own a gun again

Bingo. Give Bob a cupie doll for the most correct answer.

Non violent criminals shouldn’t be rotting in jail for marijuana...get with the times, you shouldn’t be in jail for small drug offenses.

They’re not banned.

They are in some states. In any case, laws which have resulted in the market price of an M16 being $20,000 or more are a practical ban.

Just as when gun grabbers argue that they don’t want to ban ammunition, they just want to tax it at $100 per round.

Next, these same people will argue that a ban on 30 round magazines is no big deal because a person can quickly change out 10 round magazines.

Confiscation via incrementalism.

Most people don’t want an AR-15. Should we ban those?

Oh damnnnnn, that's gonna leave a big purple welt.

Pissed off as hell. You should hear my rant against registering your car.

When you register your car, you give control of it to the government. That’s what registration is - Regis, to the king.

I hate government more than anyone I can think of. It’s likely I hate the government more than the Bundys.

the government has no right to any object in your possession. Period.

Tell me what practical use a bump stock serves.

Doesn't matter what purpose they serve if any. You completely miss the entire point here. What purpose is there for making and selling any kind of firearm if a bow and arrow or a slingshot can be used to kill with instead? Ludicrous you say? I rest my case.

What practical purpose does your speech serve, such as your post? Why not ban it?

This argument has always been a non sequitur.

Not sure what you are talking about. Violent criminals, including bank robbers and carjackers, will be eligible for early release under the “First Step Act.”

Less than 1% of federal inmates are in for simple possession, and most all of those were actually arrested for trafficking and plea-bargained down to possession. The idea that our prisons are full of non-violent drug offenders is a myth.

Some of the bursts were longer than a 30 round mag could produce.

He had a bunch of 50 round mags.
