The “abolish-ICE” left has been trying to pin the migrant girl’s death on the Border Patrol. Now more details are coming out and it looks like she had some type of infection. It was reported earlier that one-third of those in the migrant caravan are sick, many with serious diseases.

The Daily Wire is reporting:

“The seven-year-old Guatemalan girl who died after trekking hundreds of miles with her father before illegally entering the U.S. likely suffered from septic shock, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said

“The seven-year-old Guatemalan girl who died after trekking hundreds of miles with her father before illegally entering the U.S. likely suffered from septic shock, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.

Jakelin Caal Maquin died December 8 in a hospital in El Paso, Texas, after being brought there by helicopter. She and her father, Nery Gilberto Caal Cuz, were apprehended by U.S. Custom and Border Patrol (CBP) agents along with 161 others on December 6. When she began vomiting hours later, she was airlifted to the hospital, where she died.

Sepsis is an infection in the body that can cause septic shock, which can damage multiple organ systems and cause blood pressure to drop dramatically, leading to death.

The CBP initially said the girl “reportedly had not eaten or consumed water for several days,” but the DHS — in a far more detailed timeline of what occurred — said her father had told officials his daughter “had not been able to consume water or food for days.”

The DHS said CBP agents screened all those apprehended for health issues. “The initial screening revealed no evidence of health issues,” the DHS said in a statement Friday. “During the screening, the father denied that either he or his daughter were ill.”

“Authorities said the denial was recorded on a federal form signed by Caal, who speaks an indigenous dialect,” NBC News reported. “At this time, they were offered water and food and had access to restrooms,” DHS said.”

In the timeline, DHS says the large group of illegal aliens was apprehended at 9:15 p.m. by three CBP agents. They were taken to the Forward Operating Base Bounds in a remote area of New Mexico, adjacent to the Antelope Wells Port of Entry.

There, they were broken into groups for transport to the nearest Border Patrol Station in Lordsburg some 90 minutes away. After a bus took a first group of 50 there and returned, Jakelin and her father boarded the bus at 5 a.m. When they arrived at the station, Caal told authorities his daughter was not breathing. CBP emergency medical staff began administering medical care.

“At this point her temperature was 105.9 degrees,” the DHS said. “Agents providing medical care revived the child twice.”

“A decision was made to transport her by helicopter to a hospital (Lordsburg is more than four hours the El Paso Hospital by vehicle). A helicopter arrived at 0730 and departed at 0748. She arrived at Providence Children’s Hospital in El Paso, Texas at 0851. Border Patrol agents transported the father by vehicle to the hospital. The child received emergency room care and was transferred to the Pediatric ICU for additional care. Unfortunately, she passed away at 0035 on December 8, 2018,” the DHS said.”

Here is the DHS statement:

According to the Mayo Clinic, the most likely causes of sepsis are:

Pneumonia
Infection of the digestive system (which includes organs such as the stomach and colon)
Infection of the kidney, bladder and other parts of the urinary system
Bloodstream infection (bacteremia)

Sepsis is most common in the very young & old, pregnant women, and “people who have chronic conditions, such as diabetes, kidney or lung disease, or cancer,” and, “people who have weakened immune systems,” according to Mayo.

So now it appears the girl was sick prior to reaching the border, like many of the migrants are. The left will have a hard time blaming Border Patrol for that. They actually saved the little girl’s life twice & should be applauded.

My son has been in the hospital for the better part of a year. He frequently triggers the sepsis protocol.

If this girl was out in the field and had a temp of over 105 it would be very unlikely she could survive even if the best medical team was right there.

Well then the border patrol should have left them alone right? Or something. They were in a very remote area of New Mexico from what I read and had trekked from guatamala. NOT OUR FAULT!

Septic Shock is frequently brought on by dehydration and most other serious maladies which cause the bodies cleansing organs to shut down or operate at low volume

Pneumonia and congestive heart failure cause sepsis as well and so on

This could be a lipstick on pig moment

I get so tired of our children put in harms way by the illegals and the diseases they bring with them to this country..We pretty much cleaned our country out from most of them and then here comes the things back again..

Her father killed her with his choice to drag her to the US border. He should be tried for negligent homicide and endangerment to a child.

Never saw a bed bug in my whole life until the Obamanation cursed this land . I have little doubt it was brought in by illegals and made worse by RAT looting making us all poorer.

The whole thing is bogus. If you are really seeking asylum, why would you lengthen your trip by 1400 miles, unless you know you have a better chance with the 9th Circuit Court and Sanctuary Cities.

I have just seen bedbugs in pictures and they look so awful.. you can be sure I checked things that came into my house very good..W e really did no traveling and staying in hotels for a long time..but you could get the ugly things just by sitting in a chair on the plane or train where some people brought them in from other countries..It gives me the creeps to think about them..

She was very sick and her father lied to Border Patrol. By the time she crossed our border, there was no way to save her. Period.

Charge the parents with child abuse and murder.
She’s dead because of them.

Not only are you lengthening the trip in distance you are choosing to cross the DESERT. At least going directly north you are close to civilization and WATER. Even very healthy people die from trying to cross the desert on foot.

There is a website called begbugregistry.com. It is good thing to check before you book a hotel in US cities now.

The other places where bug bed have become a problem is movie theaters. Just another reason not to go to the movies.

“This could be a lipstick on pig moment”

I really don’t understand your point. Whatever initiates the sepsis whether infectious disease or dehydration brought on by being unable to “eat or drink for several days”....The bottom line is the Border Patrol is completely blameless for this little girls death.

Why are you defensive?

Saying she died of sepsis doesn’t mean she wasn’t dehydrated which caused it

Unless we withheld water from her I don’t blame our side

And I doubt we did

Likely nobody knew how bad it was

But she didn’t get septic shock from nowhere

And this article implies no it wasn’t dehydration it was sepsis which is sorta baloney

I would point out unless you were there you cannot say with certainty the border patrol or ICE are blameless

We don’t know....I doubt they caused her state but they might not have seen it

I do doubt they would have withheld fluids from here

However having been in similar environment myself crossing borders before I also know in a large group things can easily get overlooked especially out in the boonies
