President Trump and the White House are claiming that the newly renegotiated North American trade deal means that Mexico is going to pay for the southern border wall Trump promised on the campaign trail.

The argument is part of the White House's position on border security as Trump urges Congress to pony up $5 billion for the wall while lawmakers seek a deal to avoid a shutdown.

Yet the administration has struggled to explain how the pact ensures that Mexico will actually foot the bill for the barrier...

Pls remind me when we saw a headline from the MSM saying something like:

Obama claims his healthcare bill will save the average family $2500 per year

Even though he did knowing it was a patently false statement.

Higher fees on cash being wired back into Mexico.
Higher fees on cars and trucks coming into the U.S. daily.
Higher fees on people crossing the boarder in to the U.S.
Lower expenses paying for fewer illegals flooding the country. Etc....

Mexico is paying for the wall.

And it’s National Security. The Military is building the wall.

It is funny. He can’t get $5 billion for his wall from congress, but Mexico is getting $5 billion for... well, just because.

Oh well, whatever. Just get it built, and I don’t care if Corps of Engineers builds it with military money. Just get it done.

I challange this fallacious thinking because Mexico is not paying for the wall.

The NAFTA cessation will reesult in cash flow to companies and individuals. That savings does not come from the Mexican government and accrues to companies and people. In effect, the people, tax payers are the source of the wall funds, not Mexico

The President was in error when making this irrational fallacy as fulfilling his promise that Mexico would pay for the wall. If that was his intention all along, then he lied, over and over and over.

If we can all agree that the wall is necessary for our national security then can we drop the farce on who is going to pay for it? If we need a new aircraft carrier do we justify it by saying Russia will pay for it? Appropriate the money and just get the job done.

Point of order:

The corps of Engineers will “build the wall” regardless of the funding. The COE will be the contracting agency.

The actual funds may come from military appropriations or from designated wall appropriations but the COE will spend the money on wall contracts

The Caravan provided the perfect moment to do something serious about immigration, but he blew the opportunity. :(

Tax remittances to Mexico.

10% of 10 billion is $1 billion a year.
You can finance the wall and pay it back in five years.

If it's never built, I'll pay for it with pocket change.

First build it, use the Army Corps of Engineers and the President can declare a state of National Emergency.

No one, not the courts, not the congress, not the military, can pass judgment on a Presidential State of Emergency.

It is one because he said so. Period. So just do it.
