Did you read it? He implied that Trump showed disrespect to our allies. HOW DARE HE. I guess making them pay their fair share was to much for the Md Dog 20/20.

Patriot? Hardly. Blah. Good Riddance. Like you said - next.

Has Jim Mattis ever met he war he did not support? Including the illegal, endless ones? I thought so.

No I don’t think this has to do with that, I think it’s more about the officer that is accused of murder.

Maybe I missed it but Trump never abandoned our allies. Arming Ukraine was an aggressive forward defense for them.

Did people pick up Trump’s recent comment that Mattis is “sort of a Democrat”.

he stands tall in defense of the country but when Trump did it in Europe, he didn’t like it. Odd

He implied that Trump showed disrespect to our allies.

Doesn't sound that way to me. I think he is more concerned that we aren't tough enough on our rivals, especially China: "Similarly, I believe we must be resolute and unambiguous in our approach to those countries whose strategic interests are increasingly in tension with ours. It is clear that China and Russia, for example, want to shape a world consistent with their authoritarian model ..."

You hit the nail on the head.

Trump during the campaign and when first in office said there was no sense in being in Syria, Iraq, and Afghanistan any longer and the number of troops we have committed elsewhere is much larger than it should be.

Mattis contradicted him on every one of those things. He fought to keep the status quo in place and resist putting the policy of America First in place.

He should have never accepted the job in the first place rather than accepting it and working against the goals he knew full well Trump had in mind.

That is correct - Mattis took a Dem talking point position and it is bullshit. Our “allies” have not respected us for decades and we are done being used. They have never paid their fair share. Trump was right in reading them the riot act. Those days are over.

Still he did not sound off like the DNC wanted him to, because Mattis doesn’t believe the “insanity” bullshit. He agreed to disagree and what they disagree on - Mattis is wrong.

These same people were dead silent when Obama created the JV Team ISIS, by pulling out 11,000 troops. ISIS wound up killing millions.
