Retiring Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch (Utah) has identified why Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer’s strategy is so bad for him and his party.
It’s not based on actual substance, but instead on resisting Trump.
As Hatch knows, Democrats have repeatedly rejected common-sense border security ideas with the wall proposal by President Trump being the latest.

For the commie left, a border wall means the END of their plan of taking power from this country forever. For commies, every single illegal alien represents Democrat voters..if these same illegals voted Republican Nancy and Chuck would have built the wall with their bare hands

The Marxists like Schumer don’t want the wall because a wall would help Trump get reelected and all the Marxists care about is power. They do not give one rats ass about the people.
After the new year, the House appropriation bill with the wall funding expires with the 115th Congress and Pelosi can pass a new appropriation bill without the wall funding.
Then, the ball is back in McConnell's court, where he will cave as usual.
Schumer controls "minority power" and he wields it sharply. When Republicans are in the minority, they lament that "elections have consequences" and give the Democrats what they want. When Democrats are in the minority, they use every tactic at their disposal to delay, obstruct, and block the Republicans from doing what they want.

I have disliked Orin Hatch for so long,
that I can no longer remember why.
Schumer voted for the Secure Fence act of 2006.
Orin is right.
What’s worse than resisting Pres. Trump is this. Sen. Schumer is unthinkingly trying to nullify the 62,979,636 votes of the patriots who lawfully gave Pres. Trump more than enough electoral votes to win election.
I can think of a lot of very GOOD reasons for shutting down this govt and schumer’s one of them.

Schumer says the votes aren’t there for the wall. Won’t be there “ever.” So if the GOP can force them to vote for the wall Schumer will have to eat crow. I think the key is if Trump can make a veto stick.
Soon to become the Schumer/Pelosi shutdown of 2019.
I do not care. Their job is to fund the priorities of government.
Every chance Trump gets he should call out Schumer and Pelosi by asking “why oh why do you and your party HATE Americian citizens and refuse to protect said citizens?”
