This is the best reason to have others move into the ISIS hot spots.
There has actually been significant fighting in Anbar since October. Tgousabds of civilians and hostages have been brutally killed. ISIS uses the east to west trending Karst wadee, which runs from Al Assad Air Base toward the Jordanian border to mask their movement, with it’s tunnels, caves, and box canyons. If the locals say anything, their children are butchered alive.
American forces really do stand out, and the best way to deal with this may well be to let regional fighters deal with it for a while.
It is really sad, but every time we start making progress, ISIS falls back and blends in with a highly fearful local population.
Those guys are the ones with jihadists because they are the jihadist Sunni nations. Let them sort it out with Turks and so on.

Excellent Post! Trump would not pull out and let chaos and death descend on the Kurds. He had already “made the deal” with the Saudis and UAE but we will never know this.
Trump has a knack for getting people to do what they’re supposed to instead of lazily relying on someone else to do it for them.

What did it, was the enemy finally being convinced that we would kill them all, down to the last man, woman, and child, if they did not surrender. It took THAT realization to get them to decide to surrender.
In the prior century, that was also what it took to get the Indian tribes to settle down and behave.
