Also read the three tweets in this thread. Again nothing about it in the US press.

Note the link to this article in the first tweet;

https://www.yenisafak.com/en/world/france-says-daesh-has-not-been-wiped-from-map-in-syria-3469694

Here’s a quote from that article; “But it has not been wiped from the map nor has its roots. It is necessary that the last pockets of this terrorist organisation be definitively defeated militarily.”

The roots of ISIS (et al) will not be defeated militarily, they have to be defeated ideologically. That’s the reason for Saudi and UAE, probably through the GCC, getting more involved. This goes back to Trump’s ME meeting in 2017, and the commitment those Arab leaders made there to fight that ideological war.

ISIS became a force when GWB disbanded the Iraqi military. That’s an interesting hypothesis.

With US troops being withdrawn, ISIS no longer has the option of surrendering to US forces (who would then be obligated under the Laws of War to ensure their safe conduct to POW holding areas).

The Kurds will kill the ISIS forces, and the US military will not have the blood from that massacre on their hands.

Don't be too sure about that. A couple of Abombs put the fear of God into the Shintos. Massive carpet bombing shut down the Nazi cult too. History shows it takes a massive azz whupin to change their ideologies!

"...The roots of ISIS (et al) will not be defeated militarily, they have to be defeated ideologically.... "

Horse puckey. ISIS, like Islam, is an idea. Especially with the advent of the Internet, no idea ever altogether goes away. So they can just get that notion of "ideological defeat" out of their pointed little heads. It's just like smallpox. It might have been defeated in the wild but there's still samples of it stashed away in some secret laboratory somewhere. And so long as those samples remain, there's always the possibility it could break out back into the wild.

Because they're never getting rid of the idea. The only options are 1) Submit, or 2) Play Whac-a-muzzy for so long as they care to offer their heads to be smashed.

And even when they finally quit presenting their heads to be bashed in, never let your mallet out of your sight. Because eventually and invariably, they'll be coming for you again.

If there's a lesson to be learned from the last 1400 years of dealing with the Mohammedans, it's that.
