I don’t recall what Friedman did but I’ll take your word for it. I think even worse from the NYT was Judith Miller’s work. She was the one pushing the meme that Iraq had WMDs. Turns out her primary source was one Ahmed Chalabi, who pushed that fraudulent claim to whomever listened to him, but always off the record. Miller may have won a Pulitzer for her work there, not sure. Seems like she won a big “journalism” award for something.
The GOP establishment wants more war in the Middle East. They are still Bush- Cheney mentality. That’s why they’re livid that Trump wants to withdraw. Listen to Graham and Liz Cheney howl. Only Sen Rand Paul has spoken in support of Trump on Syria, not a single other Republican senator that I’ve heard. Don’t be surprised if he gets impeached by the Dem House - and convicted (thrown out of office) by the GOP Senate
