Stephen has learned that he can get ‘tons’ of national attention without having to write a page of fiction.
He likes the attention garnered free of any real effort on his part. Similar to Michael Moore and Robert deNiro.

I stopped reading his stuff years ago. I think Delores Claiborne was the last one, and I never read any of his short stories, or other book series. Too many other good writers out there to entertain me. I love the Pendergast series by Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child, plus I’ve read a majority of their published single novels. I read a lot of historical fiction (mainly medieval), along with history non-fiction.

Actually wrote some good books besides the trashy ones but apparently the brain drain on him from that effort caused early onset brain death.
I would like Stephen and the others chanting the same chorus to describe exactly what is the “train wreck”? They never elaborate, just regurgitate.
