100% correct!
Steven King stopped writing anything readable about 40 years ago.
Cussler had the only male main characters who could be shot 35 times, get blown up with 40 pounds of C-4, be on ground zero of a 20 kiloton nuclear blast, be frozen in a block of ice, and swim to the surface from the bottom of the Marianas Trench while holding his breath.
And feel good enough to get laid in the end.
I read science fiction and Cussler was to far out even for me.

Cussler’s books are pure fantasy, and he is cheating the reading public by not advertising them as such. They go way beyond science fiction, and have no relation whatsoever to adventure or drama.

The last Cussler book I read was more than forty years ago, and I think it was called “Iceberg.” It was so ridiculous I literally threw it across the room before I was even half way through it, and yelled “Fraud!” My girlfriend at the time picked it up off the floor, looked at the cover, and said, “Oh, this guy.” Smart girl.
