Merkel: 'Nation-states must be prepared to give up their sovereignty'

German chancellor Angela Merkel gave a deeply disturbing speech at the Konrad Adenaur Foundation in Berlin, where she stated in no uncertain terms that the traditional idea of a nation-state is dead.

Zero Hedge:

"Nation states must today be prepared to give up their sovereignty", according to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, who told an audience in Berlin that sovereign nation states must not listen to the will of their citizens when it comes to questions of immigration, borders, or even sovereignty.

No this wasn't something Adolf Hitler said many decades ago, this is what German Chancellor Angela Merkel told attendants at an event by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin. Merkel has announced she won't seek re-election in 2021 and it is clear she is attempting to push the globalist agenda to its disturbing conclusion before she stands down.

Imagine if she had two 40,000lb thrust engines - of course the airframe was already melting - caused one pilot to freak out (understandably) - Ben Rich’s book - the nose would sometimes get a little bent - they would heat it back into place after landing.

...Germany now wants to recruit foreigners for their army...”

Germany, like France and England, lost the flower of their manhood by the millions in two world wars. Still haven’t recovered.

This woman is absolutely INSANE. She is certifiably nuts. So what does that say about those idiots who elected her? It’s like being a passenger on an airplane pointed straight at the ground, and the passengers don’t tell the pilot to correct the plane’s course so that they don’t all die in a flaming fireball.

Anyone still wonder why we need to defend the 2nd Amendment regardless of the cost? (I don’t mean Freepers, I know you understand!)

That is actually just what she said. That doesn't make her a Communist or a Fascist or a Nazi (certainly not a National Socialist), though. It does sound a lot like the World Federalists.

The United World Federalists were organized after the Second World War and had a lot of members, even some important Senators and Representatives. They merged with another group into Citizens for Global Solutions, and are still around under other names, like the World Federalist Movement and Institute for Global Policy.

The problem with World Federalism is that there's no place to get away if you don't like the laws that are made. Giving up even some of your sovereignty means decisions are being made that much further away from the people who will be affected by them.

Didn’t another crazed German make the same threat about four decades ago?

In 1978? Not sure what crazed German that might have been. German Chancellor in 1978:

"Helmut Heinrich Waldemar Schmidt was a German politician and member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), who served as Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) from 1974 to 1982."

If you meant Hitler, he was Chancellor eight decades ago.

By definition the term ‘traitor’ can only be applied in time of an active declared war

I disagree with that narrow definition.

In my view, the word, 'traitor', can be aptly applied to anyone who consciously betrays their own country through word or deed, whether during times of war or peace.

Windflier, you’re right. I should have said “about four score years ago.”

I should have said “about four score years ago.”

Yep. That would be accurate, if referring to the 1930s.

I had to look up the word, 'score'. That particular usage of the word has long been out of common circulation, so I wasn't sure of the number of years it denotes.

Sorry to be the party pooper. And on a holiday weekend too...

—At the event “Parliamentarism in the Tension of Globalization and National Sovereignty”, international parliamentarians discussed ways of resolving populism and the 2019 European elections.

Merkel explained that Germany had given up part of its sovereign rights to the European Union. “But the states are the masters of the treaties”. This requires always the backing and the decision of the national parliament. The heart of democracy is parliament, Merkel said, referring to an earlier quotation from Prof. Dr. med. Norbert Lammert.
