WASHINGTON — President Trump has invited congressional leaders to the White House on Wednesday for a briefing on the southern border.
“Let’s make a deal?” he tweeted Tuesday, suggesting “Border Security and the Wall ‘thing’ and the Shutdown is not where Nancy Pelosi wanted to start her tenure as Speaker!”
Politico reported Tuesday that White House officials reached out to the top two Republicans and Democrats in the incoming House and Senate on New Year’s Eve and invited them to the sit-down, which will also include officials from the Department of Homeland Security.
The meeting will mark the first time Trump has met in person with congressional leaders since the government shutdown began on Dec. 22.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and House Speaker-designate Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) have been invited, along with their deputies, Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.).
Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who officially becomes the top-ranking House Republican on Thursday, was invited, along with his No. 2, Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and his deputy, Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.).

Seeing that McConnell is going to be present, I hold little hope that Trump will not back down to an entirely unsatisfactory diminished wall, PLUS allowing a bunch of unconstitutional DACA trash to stay. I fully expect this. You’re putting a fanatical A-team of devoted anti-American zealots (Schumer & Pelosi) up against RINOs. What do you expect?
He has tell them they better budget in the 5 bil for the wall or he will hold a national address from the oval office complete with actual data on the cost of illegal aliens to our country in blood and treasure. He needs to take this fight up several notches from simply tweeting.

We may not see the real aggressive Trump until reelection where he will have nothing to lose and a legacy that will be ever lasting. That is my suspicion as well. Only political calculation and personal bribes move those folks.
Everyone, including Trump, keeps talking about a “deal.” How about $25billion to keep America safe. This is a no-brainer. If I were Trump, I‘d instruct ICE agents to drop dozens of captured MS13 gangs in front of Pelosi’s and Schmucky’s houses.

I would not be surprised if the president has already figured out a way to complete the wall or nearly all of it for $5B. If so, that would explain the total panic by the Dems over the idea of allowing him to get the wall built. They know if he builds the wall, 2020 is in the can.
He will have finally delivered what they have been promising for decades while always kicking the can down the road.
They are terrified that the wall might get built and would work.
