As a west coaster I watched NBCs version of events and was dismayed that the Times Square ball drop was skipped and never referred to. Dick Clark just twitched.

The only Times Square ball drop in real time was Fox, whose coverage was pathetic, lame and almost tragic. Fox was not prepared for the rain deluge, and did not have much to show. Their remote in Miami was a joke. It was random walking around a hotel pool, where the guests were puzzled and not engaged by the Fox reporter. They did not even verify that the party goer spoke English before airing.

That is truly amazing. (By the way, Dick Clark was barely twitching the last time he decided to take part in the NYE deal. It was pretty sad.)
