SamAdams76 Monthly Trending of Twitter Follower Growth for 2020 Presidential Candidates - Jan 2019

Posted on 01/01/2019 3:54:41 PM PST by SamAdams76

This is a monthly posting of Twitter follower growth for the past month for 2020 presidential candidates.

Last Month's Post Here

For those who are new to this, what I do here is take a snapshot of Twitter followers at end of each month for citizens who have either formally announced or notable people who show interest in running for president in the 2020 cycle. Then I stack rank by what the growth is month-over-month in Twitter followers.

This is very unscientific of course but I feel that Twitter growth in followers is a very strong indicator of candidate "velocity" and we certainly saw that in 2016, when it was Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and the eventual winner Donald Trump who month after month saw the highest growth in followers. My 2016 tracking showed "front-runners" like Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio with rather tepid Twitter follower growth months before they eventually dropped out of the race.

So I think this "unscientific" survey has some merit.

I am currently tracking 42 individuals for the 2020 Presidential Race but only the Top 20 make the cut for my monthly update.

I dropped six from last month including "Porn Lawyer" Michael Avenatti and added in Angelina Jolie - who is some sort of celebrity recently jawboning about running for president. This cycle, there are a lot of celebrities who think they can replicate what Donald Trump did in 2016. The only difference is that Donald Trump, while a celebrity, actually spent decades preparing for his presidential run and had an excellent grasp of the issues when he announced in 2015. It will be entertaining to see these celebrities fall on their face as they attempt to work the same kind of "magic". They honestly think that Trump is a big dummy and if he can do it, they can too!

Looking at who had the momentum over the past month on the Democratic side, it was "Gropin'"Joe Biden by a mile follow Followed by "Pocahontas" Elizabeth Warren who just announced yesterday she is formally exploring a presidential bid. Then you have Kamala Harris gathering some momentum as well. So looks like the establishment candidates of the Democratic Party are coming on strong.

Beto O'Rourke appears to be fading. Last month he netted 30K new followers but less than half of that for December. We'll see if that trend continues during January.

Still in the very early going here.

Thanks for the analysis. My money is on Kamala for the winner here. She has the most “cards” to play.

Including the “escort” card

I wonder how that would work?

Adding my ping list.

Yes, Kamala Harris checks the right boxes for the race and gender obsessed Democrats. However, Joe Biden is a very formidable candidate and if he formally runs, I think he will have the advantage.

I'm also tracking Cory Booker but there seems no enthusiasm for him. He's been actually losing followers over the past few months.

President Trump on the other hand netted nearly 3/4 MILLION new followers in just the last month. By next month's update, he should be over 57m Twitter followers total. Nobody else even comes close. BTW, Crooked Hillary Clinton (who I am no longer tracking for this) has about 23.7m followers.

Akon is a rap singer who has sold a gazillion records apparently and he has expressed strong desire to run for president. He also mentions having Mark Zuckerberg as his running mate. Whether Mark would have him is another story.

There was a time in my life where I knew pretty much every Top 40 song on the radio. Akon has had a substantial number of Top 40 hits including several number ones and I can't name a single of those songs.

However, since he's thinking of running for president, I'll track him here for a while. If any Freepers are familiar with his music, let me know which of his songs I should check out first. I'm not adverse to listening to new types of music. In fact, I've recently gotten into Linda Ronstadt's Latin songs from the 1990s. She does a great job with them and even has top notch mariachi bands accompany her on them.

I keep meaning to do that. I will try to get it added to next month's update.

She cuts her boobs off to spite her face.

Actually, looking at her lips, I think she cuts her boobs off and ADDS them to her face.

Bernie is hovering around 8m followers. I’m tracking him but he did not get enough new followers to make my list this month.

I think the eventual DEM will be McAuliffe. The non-moderates will kill each other off and establishment voters will vote McAuliffe in before the radicals will get a candidate.

Then, the damage done will cause leftie Dems to stay home and the Dems will lose legislative seats as well.

Akon simulated sex with a 15 year old on stage.

A no-go.

Wouldn’t be a hoot, if Trump ran as a “democrat” and beat them at their own game.

I’ve thought it could be a McAuliffe/Gillenbrand ticket for awhile. YUK. The sleeper (IMO) is Sherrod Brown.
