I believe a sheriff is elected, not appointed. He is the Law in his county, is what I’ve heard. Not suspendable, eh?

If the sheriff is indicted, he would be suspended pending the outcome of his criminal proceedings.

Want to know why cops get away with so much of this kind of behavior? Because dirty cops have so much shit on half the department, including the Sheriff and Prosecutor, they would take all the others down with them. I call it a “mutual extortion society”.

In Florida the governor can suspend constitutional officers for cause, even though elected.

The Florida governor cann suspend any sheriff as thet all come under the jurisdiction of the FDLE.
