Require concealed carry permit and an annual tactical class to carry on campus. Now how you get them to go to the gun range regularly I wonder? How come just teachers? How about custodians, cooks, and groundskeepers. Concealed carry means only the principal knows. Post a sign saying, This is not a gun free zone. Members of the faculty and staff may be armed. Uncertainty has a great deterrent effect.
“Uncertainty has a great deterrent effect.”
That uncertainty certainly enhances the deterrent effect of submarines.
Require concealed carry of a Glock holster.
Can be used as a purse or Glock, depending on the teacher's inclinations.
That tactic works WELL for a lot of Texas rural schools.
Otoh, MOST of our ISD in Texas have school district police, who are trained at least as well as the city/county officers.
(All peace officers here are STATE officers, who are certified by TCLOSE.)
Fwiw, I’m a Presiding Election Judge & on election days, I can carry concealed at my assigned polling place. - I don’t, as my precincts are on HS campuses that have police officers & those LEOs are always nearby & help us Election Officials to keep the peace.
(My “secret” is that I always bring coffee & have “goodies” available for the EO/LEO & our voters, too.)

But what about students ganging up to take the weapon from a teacher? Think “inner city kids”.
