Bay Area property brokers find angle amid exodus: Brisk business in moving people out of the region

Real estate agent Myron Von Raesfeld sold 30 homes in North Carolina in the last six months, making him one of the top agents in the Raleigh-Durham market — from his desk 2,778 miles away in Santa Clara.

Von Raesfeld, CEO of Windermere Silicon Valley, is advising homeowners and investors to sell high in California and move their assets outside the state. The payoff: more cash in hand, and a better quality of life.

“It’s a great time to sell in California,” he said. “This makes a lot of sense.”

Even as the Bay Area real estate market cools, agents specializing in moving people out of the region report very brisk business. They’re becoming experts on everything from economic forecasts for Memphis, Tennessee to annual snowfall in Boise, Idaho.

The outward migration from the Bay Area has accelerated, with more people leaving the region than any other spot in the country.

Driven by a strong economy, the region’s overall population continues to grow. But the number of residents leaving hit its highest point in more than a decade last year, according to a report by Joint Venture Silicon Valley. Residents between the ages of 18 and 24, and between 45 and 64 were most likely to leave.

With Newsom proposing free healthcare to illegals and all sorts of other free goodies, people will be expecting big tax hikes and this exodus is going to rapidly accelerate.

Meanwhile, Newsom says he will restore the "California dream."

Glad we bought our Idaho house a year ago. We still have our California house, but are seriously asking ourselves if we should sell it. House prices could collapse so fast that selling now and paying the exorbitant federal taxes might be cheaper than getting far less for the house in a year or two.

If everyone’s leaving the region, who is buying their houses?

Our aerospace jobs moved out of California 20 years ago and we’re so happy we were given the opportunity to move with them. We miss family and friends who still live there and the coastal weather is awfully nice but other than that?

Just closed our house sale last week. Same style house next street over Is pending for $15,000 less. That house has been renovated too.
Houses here in Sacramento out by the airport are still hot but are staying on the market longer and the prices are starting to drop.

I hate to see Bay Area leftist pukes moving to Idaho and the Carolinas. They are infecting the last good parts of this country.

Idaho is a bad choice! (Freepers accepted, of course.) Californians will find heaven in Vermont or New Jersey.

New home builders in Irvine CA cater to immigrant buyers by designing first floor “suites” for elderly parents.

That’s not catering to immigrants, the demographics of today show that something like that would be quite popular for a lot of people.

Precisely-— this is a puff piece article for the dude— who appears to be running a corporate re-location real estate bizness, contracted to Silicon Valley tech weenies.

The relo “real estate buys” in Raleigh-durham area can be reflected in the purchase of Red Hat by IBM..for 34 BN just so IBM can get a slice of the “Cloud”.

IBM has, (since it sold it’s laptop division to Lenovo over 9 years ago) several huge vacant buildings (they tried to lease them, no dice) in the corporate park put together on Dem Governor Terry Sanford’s land (funny that) called “Research Triangle Park” or RTP. Same place the HQ of the federal EPA is located (with the exception of pharmas and statistical database cos, there isn’t much else there). So 30 homes in that scheme of things.... not a “run”. Wish that it WERE so that tech weenie big bucks people were actually concerned about their tax hits... finally. Don’t think it is true- and it directly relates to Tucker Carlson’s start of year program talking about being beholden to mercenaries in government and their partners in corporate/tech world.

CA is going the way of Detroit, but in a pot-infused, environmentally sensitive way shooting themselves in... the head. No middle class and “let’s bring in Aztlan the poor “immigrants”— who are the “servant class” needed by the tech weenies (au pair girls and boys).

True, but in this case the home builders are specifically targeting Asian immigrant buyers.

Everyone is a hip fracture away from needing a downstairs suite...another reason why single level homes make sense.

If it's the Bay Area, foreign investors/homeowners. Chinese, Indian, East Europeans, ...

There’s no doubt that Newsom is going to aggressively push a left-wing agenda to position himself with the Dem base for a presidential run, maybe in 2024. Moonbeam will likely seem like Reagan in comparison to what we’re going to get in the next 4 years.

SALT is about to hit California with a vengeance. I wonder how all of the “young professionals” are going to react, now that they will have to pay their fair share of California liberal insanity?
