How did they let a muzzie become a party leader in the first place?

Further proof that the GOP will sell the “R” brand to anyone who pays whatever price it demands or serves whatever perceived need it has.

Religious freedom has nothing to do with nothing. They should oust this Muslim simply because his political philosophy and our political philosophies are as different as night and day.

Islam is a theo-political system of laws which is anathema to our laws and our Constitution.

This guy has only been in Texas for something like 10 years. And he’s in any enemy religion . The governor should butt out.

Also, Perry and Abbott both have tried to bring every Californian they can find into Texas.

Sometimes, it’s almost like they’re all working against us. That’s probably just my imagination

Zudie Jasser is a Moslem, a former Navy Office, lives in Arizona (if I remember correctly), and is a leader in trying to get rid of Moslem extremists and extreme thought.

There are good Moslems and we should not drive them away with blind intolerance/hate.

My son’s unit in the initial invasion of Iraq contained several young local Moslem soldiers (Ft. Belvoir, Va) who fortunately spoke Arabic and were able to defuse some very dangerous situations with Iraqi civilians. They are as much an American as my son and they all were American soldiers FIRST. By the way, my son was the only Jewish soldier in his company (helped to liberate the land of our ancestors re Ur, Babylon, etc).

Regardless of his religion, this is only going to make the GOP look bad. He was elected city councilman in 2014. If there was anything in his public record or statements supporting Sharia law, it would have come up within the last four years.

The effort to remove him from a vice chair of the Republican has been ongoing for several months is about his religion, not his politics. This will not remove him from the elected office he's held for four years. If he turns around and starts calling for the end of the West and Israel, then Texans will vote him out, problem solved. Otherwise, this just makes the GOP look bad.

"the promise of freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution"

...and that promise is nullified by Islam.

Texas ping...to weigh in on this subject.

It’s a messy one. Freedom of religion but.....I don’t think muslims believe in freedom. So it’s not an easy decision for the governor.

Islam is a political and cultural system. It cannot also be a religion. If it is assumed to be a religion it is in violation of the separation of Church and State.

Muslims who came here after the Shah of Iran fell from power are pretty conservative (pro America). This guy could be one of those.
