It’s day 18 of the partial government shutdown, and still no deal in sight to end it. And Democrats insist, they will not fund the wall.
But one very well-known Texas Republican says he may have the answer.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz says there’s one Mexican in particular he wants to foot the bill for President Trump’s border wall.
“We should take the money criminally forfeited by El Chapo, the Mexican drug lord, and from any other drug lords, and use that money to pay for building a wall, to pay for securing the border.”
Joaquin Guzman, known as “El Chapo”, is on trial in New York. He’s accused of international drug trafficking and conspiracy to murder.
The Justice Department wants to put El Chapo behind bars for life and wants $14 billion dollars in criminal penalties.
Cruz says his bill, the El Chapo Act, would take that money and use it to pay for President Trump’s border wall.
“The shutdown will end, the government will fully reopen.”

I agree with this totally. If it could be done, the President would have already made it happen.
He’s been a good Senator...just stunk as a Presidential candidate and he was born in Canada.
Well, according to the democrats and the MSM, the drug cartel heads are much too fair-minded to try to slip drugs across the border at some desolate, unmanned location, but prefer to be generous about it all, and ferry drugs across some check point where the border patrol will have an at least an honest chance to interdict the drugs.
Maybe El Chapo will get with the sentiment and offer, on his own, as a good faith gesture, to pay for the wall.
I for one had a strong dislike for Cruz but he has returned from the dark side and I now have respect for him. I took a lot of heat for this too because 3 of my siblings live in Texas. Once Trump showed his greatness in office they came aboard the Trump train as well.
Investigate how much money is being shipped to the Democratic Resistance in order to fight the wall. The ones that lose the most with a wall are the drug lords, and they have lots of money.
I love it. We can have a big plaque on it and call it the ‘El Chapo Wall’!!
Maybe Bezos wife after she divorces him and gets 50 billion or so can throw a few billion in too. That way we can get Bezos to pay for the wall!!

Thank you for that. We love him in the SENATE, and his idea is very good. I think it’s great that he’s working with the president, and I have a new respect for him.
It’s no different than the seizure laws that local police departments use everyday. Those funds and assets are used by local agencies to fund thier law enforcement efforts.
Look for a fight from deep state law enforcement which is currently supplementing its own budget with that cash flow.

I voted for him in the Senate and will do it again. But not for POTUS. He’s not NBC and he was as nasty or worse than the demonrats toward Trump.
Great idea to put confiscated drug money and vehicles toward the wall. We collect that daily. We won’t see a dime of El Chapo’s because it is well hidden.
Did you hear about Colorado wanting to legalize magic mushrooms? The cartels will soon be flying more drug planes across the border straight to the mile high drug haven.
Cruz is a bit behind here - NO ONE CARES how the wall is paid for because we all know that it will cover itself, many, many, times, but stopping the pipeline of illegal entry.

....I thought I heard some of it is returned (equipment, vehicles,etc.)
...I know the vehicles they confiscate after they tear them apart getting the drugs go to auction.....
