How About That?: College Students Shocked to Hear Hillary, Obama & Schumer Pushed Border Security
Fox News ^ | 1-9-19

Students at American University reacted unfavorably to calls for increased border security to stem the flow of illegal immigrants, expressing shock that prominent Democrats have agreed with the idea in the past.

Campus Reform's Cabot Phillips visited the university's Washington, D.C. campus amid the ongoing border funding battle and partial government shutdown.

He presented students with several quotes that sounded a lot like President Trump's speeches, but actually came from then-Senator Barack Obama, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Hillary Clinton -- including:

“Illegal Immigration is wrong, plain and simple. Until the American people are convinced we will stop future flows of illegal immigration, we will make no progress.” - Schumer, 2009

“We simply cannot allow people to pour into the United States undetected, undocumented and unchecked” - Obama, 2005

“I voted numerous times when I was a senator to spend money to build a barrier to try to prevent illegal immigrants from coming in. And I do think you have to control your borders.” -  Clinton, 2015

Students described the quotes as “dehumanizing,” “problematic” and “jingoist," with one student dubbing it "hateful speech" and another claiming the comments contained "racial biases."

The were in for a surprise, however, when Phillips informed that prominent Democrats actually made the remarks.

Young people get all their news from their smart phones.
The fact that they were clueless about this indicates just how thorough a job of censorship is being done by Silicon Valley, and now critical it is that we do something about it.

The life of political statements in some quarters is like that of milk in the grocery refrigerator. I wonder how long it will take to paint themselves into a corner.

I remember those days. I also remember they weren’t serious; their fingers were crossed behind their backs.

More specifically, they only supported increased border security as part of a huge amnesty give-away “comprehensive package.” They NEVER supported border security in and of itself, and were always dead set against “border security first,” which was really a GOP reaction to leftist dithering on the matter.

Just think: It was Obama who starved the Border Patrol of resources and who put in all sorts of rules basically telling them to let people in. Sure, he had a lot of “deportations,” but that was a statistical at the border game to make his numbers look good. Remember, he didn’t do squat when the trains of aliens rolled north through Mexico.

Young people are taught to believe Conclusions (”Democrats hold the moral position” and “Republicans are evil”). They are carefully kept away from truths which falsify those conclusions. Schools sometimes explicitly teach “Critical Thinking” but the core tenet of today’s Critical Thinking class is: “Marx was right about everything”.

There could not have been a Marxism without it being in the wake of faded, powerless Christianity, that remembered some of its sweeter moral content but did not keep in the heart the personal power of the Savior. The result is trying to do it by mere human effort. The ancient world wouldn’t have bothered with socialism, knowing nothing that could have serves as a springboard for it.

The foundational problem of the Modern age -- going back at least a couple of centuries -- is Nihilism. All the"smart people" believe in Nothing. Nothing is true. Reality is what you want it to be. Everything is meaningless.

Western Civilization used to be based on Judeo-Christian values. We need to get back to that, because that's where the Truth is.

Exactly correct. It is a form of Hubris. Man considering himself as god, because he believes there is no God.

A weak Christianity might be the worst of worlds as we know it. It’s too strong for serious explicit spiritual rivals to arise across society. It’s too weak to work a satisfying transformation across society.

Too many conservatives have surrendered the public school K-12 system to liberals without a fight. The alternative to staying and fighting for public schools has been flight - retreating to private schools or home-schooling, which helps explain why so many students coming in to college are so ready to be turned into mindless leftist automatons.

Don't forget-the deck is stacked against Conservatism by way of the full court press the MSM has been waging for decades.

Magazines, films, newspapers, broadcast news, tv programming, sit coms, even commercials.... etc. All these make Conservatives out to be mindless, greedy, hard heated, knuckle-scraping boobs. If conservatives or conservatism are mentioned at all, it's only in the worst possible light.
