Saving face. Blame the change on Dems.
It gives him political cover to go with bollards as a concession for funding, as opposed to him just having learned that bollards are more effective, and that all the professionals want them rather than solid wall.
Bank robberies continue...as we speak...in spite of strict laws on books against robberies.
Murders continue...as we speak...in spite of strict laws on books against murders.
Illegal immigration will continue in spite of strict laws to deport them.
We try to PREVENT bank robberies by many means. We try to PREVENT murders by imposing life imprisonments or death penalties. Yet we leave thousand mile long border open for illegals to just walk in. PREVENTION of 98% is better than none.
If the laws are not enforced then it won't matter in any case. All crime continues but you can bet your bippy that if bank robbers were allowed to keep anything they got out of the bank with, there would be an increase in bank robberies.
We are allowing thousand a day to come through the border check points, put up a fence with all else remaining the same they will just come to the gate, like they do now, not to mention the ones coming here legally and just staying illegally with out fear of punishment.
Wake up and smell the reality. We can’t even find the 10 most wanted by FBI very often. And our national debt is north of $22,000,000,000,000.00 We are more broke than any of the 500 largest outfits on Wall Street. We simply do not have the money to employ enough law enforcement staff to find the 30,000,000 illegals most of them living in sanctuary cities and counties anyways whom the Feds can’t arrest.
So the best affordable solution to curb flow of illegals is build the wall.
Symbolism is good but action is better.
We have the ability to track every illegal, we just don't have the will to do it.
You still don’t get it do you? We do not have the money to send cops to arrest 30,000,000 illegals after you track them.
If we are so good at tracking, why can’t the FBI find 10 most wanted easily?
Well maybe we could use the money that we spend housing, feeding and educating them to figure out who they are?

Maybe they aren't really the ten most wanted. The ten most wanted are hardly in the same class as illegals., these guys are not likely to be using social services are they?
Not trying to stall here but with Facial recognition coming on line it will become much harder to hide than it is now.
