I am old enough to remember a time when comedians were funny. People like Johnny Carson, Don Rickels, Milton Berle, George Burns and Gracie Allen and Carol Burnett looked at life’s uncomfortable moments and made us laugh. On occasion, they poked fun at our politicians, but always in jest. What passes for humor, today, simply is viciousness directed at those who are outside “mainstream” (i.e. liberal) thought. If any of these so-called humorists actually had to be funny, none would succeed.
