As a furloughed Federal Employee (DOT), I've been watching with great amusement the horror stories on the local news of Feds having to deal with having to go without a pay check.
My congress critter Steny Hoyer is full of it. I have no sympathy for my fellow Feds who failed to plan for the shutdown. They knew this was coming.
Any Fed who failed to plan for a lengthy shutdown was not paying attention, is a fool, and deserves the pain resulting from the shutdown.
Conventional wisdom, like common sense which is sorely lacking in this day and age, dictates you should have at least 3-4 months of cash available for contingencies.
As a Fed employee, I can say we have this shut down threat potential every year as the elected reps spar over political issues.
So, like having an umbrella around in case of rain, us Govt employees with a brain, budget spending so to save some money out of each paycheck, for rainy days.
At least we, get back pay. A private company worker does do as well as we Govt workers do.
No need to feel sorry for us...we got it better than you private employment smucks. As a Fed employee, my health insurance benefits are outstanding....truly I would hate it if I got stuck with the ObamaCrapCare insurance...that almost no doctors around here will accept. High priced, low benefits.
