Conservatives sure are afraid of Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They don’t like that she danced in college, they’re in an uproar over an old high school nickname — some are even spreading a false rumor about a nude photo.
The Republican, mostly male obsession with the 29-year-old Bronx native is more than run-of-the-mill misogyny; it’s existential panic. Because in addition to the young Democratic Socialist standing for (reasonable) policies that conservatives find terrifying, Ocasio-Cortez represents a vision of the future of the United States — a future that’s no longer centered around old white men.
The newest class of political representatives are more diverse than ever. Forty-two women were sworn into Congress this year. The freshman class also inducted 24 people of color, 23 of whom are Democrats.
Ocasio-Cortez — who is telegenic, talented, and unabashedly left — embodies a shift in power that terrifies the right. That’s why the sustained attack on the youngest woman ever elected to Congress is so very specific: making up sexualized rumors, calling her a “girl,” or referring to her as Sandy (I have particular ire for men to use nicknames as a way to belittle women). It is all meant to discredit and diminish her bona fides.
But this isn’t just about the politician herself. As Adam Serwer noted this week, the animus towards Ocasio-Cortez is part of the racist backlash that we saw in the 2016 presidential election. “More than simply a leftist to be opposed, Ocasio-Cortez has joined Barack Obama as a focus of the very same fear and anger that elected Trump in the first place,” he wrote.

I am always amazed at the shallowness and vacuity of leftist writers. They have zero ability to discuss or analyze why the United States is a truly exceptional Constitutional Republic and why communism (or the fave du jour "Democratic Socialism") is the true existential threat to our long term survival. They will not discuss the many cases of communism and socialism failure, how it slaughtered more than 100 million last century, and how it thoroughly corrodes the human spirit.
All this feminist kook sees is the supposed backlash against AOC because she danced in college and she threatens the old white patriarchy. She dredged up supposed conservative knashing of teeth over a AOC high school nickname and maybe a nude photo of her.

I don’t see her as a racial phenomenon in any way. She is not a new Barack Obama. She is a young, immature, Leftist ideologue with wacky ideas and minimal self-control. She is helpful to the Conservatives because she gets a lot of press all across the country, and most people who actually vote do not want someone that wacky to be deciding our future. She’s bad for Democrats. So I love her.

Occasional-Cortex reminds me of Bernadette Devlin who was elected to British parliament in either the late 60s or early 70s, wore miniskirts and served about one term before blowing up. The difference is that Devlin appeared to have a brain (although a commie) and actually did agree to appear on Firing Line. Imagine O-C on Firing Line!
AOC needs to meet a 6’6” Laumberjack from Oregan with massive hands. After a week or so she would be a changed woman, warm, happy, kind and disinterested in politics.

Conservatives love her because she is revealing the true, new face of the Democratic Party.
Establishment Democrats on the other hand, like Pelosi, hate her with a passion...and for good reason.
AOC is the Bernie wing of the Party reborn with vigor, video photogeneity, and mouth (big mouth BTW, accented with bright red lipstick and the tallest teeth known to man).
AOC is the event horizon for the Democratic Party as we know it. She is going to single-handedly transform the Democratic Party into the Democratic Socialist Party of America.

When people throw NYC Mayor Di Blasio’s name out there as a 2020 contender, they ignore the fact that he wouldn’t get any real support between the Hudson River and California. The liberalism of coastal elites doesn’t play well in “real America”.
