Julián Castro, Former Housing Secretary, Announces Presidential Run
NYTIMES ^ | 1-12-2019 | Maggie Astor

Julián Castro, the former housing secretary and former mayor of San Antonio, announced on Saturday that he would run for president, one of the most high-profile Latino Democrats ever to seek the party’s nomination.

His first campaign stop will be in Puerto Rico, where he will speak on Monday at the Latino Victory Fund’s annual summit and meet with residents still struggling to recover from Hurricane Maria. Later in the week, his campaign said, he will go to New Hampshire.

Mr. Castro, in prepared remarks that he was set to deliver in San Antonio on Saturday, said, “When my grandmother got here almost a hundred years ago, I’m sure she never could have imagined that just two generations later, one of her grandsons would be serving as a member of the United States Congress and the other would be standing with you here today to say these words: I am a candidate for president of the United States of America.”

“So far there’s 30 rats lined up to proclaim they’ll run. Lots will get $$$$$$ to not run or step down. Cash rules first!”

Perhaps, but with most of these “candidates,” they feel they are on a “mission from G-d” to “take the country back,” so money alone may not be enough of an “inducement” to drop out. Then again, since they are all Marxists, they may want to avail themselves of a “free dacha” next door to Bernie Sanders up on Lake Champlain.

I’d like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy as well.

After all, I have as much chance as Julio.

The big contributors in the RAT Party would be more comfortable giving money to O’Rourke than Castro. There are more than a few White and Black Democrats who are uncomfortable voting for a Latino despite what they may say publicly.

You will not convince me that when it comes down to the wire politicians can’t be bought.......they ‘all’ can unless they are already independently wealthy.... money rules and always will!

There is however your point about the socialist movement and those they will support. They have been and are targeting the younger voters as they are ‘primed’ to ‘believe’ in the fantasy of socialism. Currently Cortez is the sweetheart of the hour to garner that momentum. Though she’s just the front person for the Justice Demorats alias socialist/communism front...who have picked off all the Sander supporters.

Beto O’Rourke is a money magnet. The big Dem donors like him and poured their bucks onto him in his recent Texas Senate run vs Ted Cruze.

Mother was one of the leaders in the founding of La Raza.

The twins still back the movement and both are scumbags. San Antonio is one of a half dozen “blue holes” (Dem strongholds) in TX.

Juaquin is a Dem Rep. in the US House. Julian was Mayor in San Antonio before taking the job as Obama’s HUD Scty.

This could get interesting...it could come down to the militant Mexican and the fake Mexican.

Geez....what choices!

Castro can’t win.

But he may be a VP contender.....

Face it.....Texas is not as Republican-friendly as it was 10 years ago.

The Dem ticket will have to include at least one of all of the following: a black, a female (or one that identifies as such), a Latino/a, a gay, and a socialist. Since there are only two members on the ticket, each will have to have at least two discrete aspects, unless one could be black female Latina gay socialist, in which case the other could be Joe Biden.

Lots of cultural race runners this time around.....to pull away from those supporting Trump.

Dems can’t do anything but prevent Trumps ‘successes’ where they stand now.....and all guns are pointed at doing just that for the 2020 election.

Heck O Cortez’s entire office is nothing more than an inside operational ‘election’ machine and their goal is entirely to affect elections...to transform the Democratic Party and America.....Not do the work for the people.

I thought he might wait to announce at Caucasian Victory Fund’s event.

That one would instantly be called the White Nationalist Victory Fund by the leftist media.

Instead of Texas being Texas, they’ll be more like Florida. And keep in mind, not all Hispanics vote Democratic.

A Latino presidential candidate scares the Democrats more than they will admit to. I seriously believe many Blacks will be hesitant to vote if Castro or any other Hispanic were to be the Democrat nominee. Of course the vast majority will vote for Castro, but it won’t be in high numbers, and there won’t be any real enthusiasm for him. Blacks and Latinos despise each other more than we’ll ever hear in the media.
