Ted Cruz on Steve King's white supremacist comments: 'He needs to stop it'

Sen. Ted Cruz on Sunday joined a growing chorus of GOP lawmakers and other party officials condemning comments Republican Rep. Steve King of Iowa made in support of white nationalism.

"What Steve King said was stupid. It was stupid, it was hurtful, it was wrong. And he needs to stop it," the Texas Republican told NBC's "Meet the Press."

In a recent interview with the New York Times, King — who served as the national co-chairman for Cruz's 2016 presidential campaign — questioned why words like "white nationalist" are now considered racist.

"How did that language become offensive?" he told the outlet. "Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?"

In a statement issued after the report was published, King rejected the suggestion he is an advocate for white nationalism. He later apologized on the House floor.

Alongside Cruz, Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only African-American Republican in the chamber, wrote in a recent op-ed that opinions like King's "damage not only the Republican Party and the conservative brand but also our nation as a whole.”

“damage not only the Republican Party and the conservative brand but also our nation as a whole.”

For asking a legitimate question.

The Left is taking this out of context, it seems, to make it a DNC talking point.

I didn’t hear all of his remarks. I will say that there’s nothing whatsoever wrong with being a White Nationalist.

I support my nation and it’s sovereignty, and I expect every other citizen to, I don’t care what color they are.

As if this means I think less of people of color, that’s just idiotic. I expect them to benefit as much as I would from a strong sovereign nation, and I support that for them.

The Left attacks everything Whites say, and I think we have to be very careful of buying into their PC version of things on the sprint to the apology lectern.

Cruz may be right here, if there were other comments that did reference White Supremacy. If not, I think Cruz should back off joining the PC crowd.

Again, Cruz may be right here. I’m not going to ding him because I haven’t heard or seen all the things said.

Folks can judge for themselves on that point.

I will say I’m tired of watching our side allow the Left to dictate the rules of engagement. It’s time to call them out on their treachery with examples of their own team’s comments that are far worse then ours.

There is another popular ‘Stop It!’ gif.
It shows a young Michael Jordan in a light suit jacket talking to the camera. This was from back when he was King of the Hill and could have easily gone into politics.

He also said white supremacist.

“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?”

Stupid comment.

It sounds like when push comes to shove Ted is a pussy. That’s too bad. I’ve been a big booster of his and I still think he’s one of our very best Senators but what we need are leaders and leaders do not bow down before evil commie lies.

Funny how the left keeps getting away with pinning racism on their opponents when they are the side that keeps insisting on injecting race into issues which are logically race neutral.
