TAMPA, Fla. (FOX 13) - Food stamp recipients in Florida will get their February benefits early due to the partial government shutdown.
The Florida Department of Children and Families made the announcement Monday, saying eligible recipients will receive their Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits for February on Jan. 20.
As a result, DCF said there will not be any additional deposits in the month of February.

Im sure everyone will plan for not getting Feb benefits ...
No doubt. EVERY food stamp recipient I’ve ever dealt with was out of food and stamps before they were out of month, every time. But they ate great for the first two weeks upon getting their next allotment.
Great, because welfare recipients in general can manage their money and make it last through February. I bet dollars to doughnuts come Feb 20th we’ll be reading stories about how they are starving because they did not receive any free money in Feb.
Free food
Free medical
Where does all of the funding come from for such a kind and thoughtful gesture?
Where does one sign up for such a win fall?
Seems so much better than the odds for hitting the lottery.
Programs such as this should be conducted, and paid, at the State level. Not the Federal.
What many say is true, but please keep in mind, there are a lot of seniors that rely on SNAP, and use them wisely.
Sadly, the majority abuse them.
Some seniors know how wise it is to be stocked and prepared for anything. And grow gardens :)
All the crooked bodegas and EBT buyers will get an early windfall. By Valentines Day, well be reading sob stories that The Poor have run out of food and must have more credit.
Hey baby...Daddy’s gettin’ tight tonite!
EBT and Thunderbird, bisshes!
Are they going to be able to bill the Feds ahead of time?
If Florida is fronting the money, why don’t they wait?
No doubt theyll be starving and stories of dumpster diving will be rampant.
The SecAg says SNAP is funded through February.
Id like to know why NPR is still on
Yes. What if they gorge on fatty foods the first week and gain 9 pounds, but then notice the cupboard is bare and whine for more food to the first local news camera crew?
Maybe set up Go Fund Me?
I think this is some kind of money thats going to expire - thats how theyre funding Feb EBT - but need to spend by end of Jan. Then the fireworks start.
Publix is very happy to hear this.
These over priced supermarket outfits couldn’t get away with the high prices if it wasn’t for the food stamps they benefit from.
It leaves one to 'assume' they are funded and therefore, much like Planned Parenthood, are essential government. Some of this sht is hard for me to wrap my head around.
Actually the article says they WILL get Feb benefits.
and get them early
They will be broke before the end of January.
It makes my blood boil to see the ones who pull their EBT card and are quite capable of WORKING when I work my ass off to pay for my food.
I wish I could grow a vegetable garden but I am concerned about seepage from the septic tank lines; it has happened more than once. In two years, the city will be bringing the sewer out but for now I can’t do anything. Is there any solution for this?
