According to Cars.com and their “American-Made index,” the most American-made vehicle of 2018 was the Jeep Cherokee, which was assembled in the US, had a US-built engine and transmission, and 72% of whose parts were made in the US.

The next two on the list were Hondas assembled in Alabama. With 3 Hondas and an Acura, Honda had more cars in the top 10 than any other manufacturer.

The top Ford was the Ford Taurus at #4, which I think will be discontinued soon as Ford is getting out of the US passenger car market entirely other than the Mustang. The top GM is the heavily taxpayer-subsidized Chevy Volt at #5, and the next GM after that is the Corvette at #10.

I’m not sure the nameplate really tells you much anymore as to whether the car is American-made.

Jeep. An FCA product.

And what does the F stand for in FCA?

Hint. It ain’t Ford. A Cherokee can hardly be an American car if $$$ goes to Italy on every unit sold.
