Al Gore to address wine and climate change conference

Ex-US vice president Al Gore is to address a high-level wine and climate change conference in Porto this year, designed to help wineries and academics share knowledge.

Leading academics and wine industry figures will attend a ‘climate change leadership’ conference, in a follow up to the July 2018 ‘Porto Protocol’ – a non-profit initiative uniting the international wine sector to counter the effects of climate change.

Barack Obama spoke at the 2018 conference and this year’s symposium will see former US vice-president and Nobel Laureate Al Gore address guests.

‘We are shifting from discussing climate change to sharing solutions,’ said conference co-organiser Adrian Bridge, CEO of the Fladgate Partnership, which includes several Port brands like Taylor-Fladgate, Fonseca and Croft.

‘Unlike other industries, wine has a sense of place and a long-term horizon, given the age of vines,’ he said at a press conference for assembled industry representatives and media at the Portuguese embassy in Washington DC.

Recognising that current US president Donald Trump has called climate change a ‘hoax’, Bridge said that ‘we cannot wait for leadership from governments’ and that ‘we ourselves need to do something’.

This year’s Porto conference schedule includes sessions on ‘Wineries of the Future’ and ‘Packaging and Transportation’ aimed at reducing carbon footprints.

And here I thought it was the “Porto” near Buena Park, Ca. Or at the very least near nan’s place in Napa. Nope! Here’s the venue in Portugal:

Think he’s swimming there? Probably not.

I’d be interested in ALgore’s explanation on why Britain had the best wines during J. Caesar’s northern Gaul campaigns? Hardy, grapes in Britain? Must have been warmer!

When you don’t have to work and all your needs are taken care of, you have a lot of time to think.

‘Wineries of the Future’ and ‘Packaging and Transportation’ aimed at reducing carbon footprints.

Here's how: synthesize the major wine chemicals from corn and natural gas then package them like Kool-Aid. Mixing up the Kool-Aid is something all the global warmers need to know how to do.

Cost is the most honest indicator of energy use and therefore pollution. You can tell one wine bottle's carbon footprint from another simply by looking at the price.

If I’m not mistaken, the chemical byproducts of yeast fermentation area alcohol and carbon dioxide.

Shouldn’t manbearpig be rallying against alcohol production all together?

Volcanoes under the ice sheet in Antarctica are responsible for most of the ice melting. The scientists know this because of the chemical analysis of the melt water. Shhh. Don’t tell the faked out public. It would destroy their little hate filled and stuuuupid little brains.

Hilarious. The more wine anybody makes, the more grapes he ferments to make the alcohol and the more CO2 he makes. Also, guess whet the little bubbles in bubbly are 100% composed of. Then there’s the bread at wine and cheese parties with all sorts of funny littler holes, each made by CO2. Those libs at wine and cheese parties are really raping the environment.
