Barr says he would 'not carry out' president's order to fire Mueller if lacking good cause

William Barr, President Trump's pick to serve as his next attorney general, said he would not fire special counsel Robert Mueller if President Trump ordered him to do so without good cause.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-Conn.), who asked Barr about how he would respond, tied his question to Watergate scandal when the prosecutor investing Watergate resigned instead of following then-President Richard Nixon's order for him to fire the special counsel investigating the matter.

"Most famously when directed by president Nixon to fire the special counsel, the prosecutor investigating watergate, Richard Nixon resigned, as we all know. If those directions were to fire Mueller, would you follow Richard Nixon's example and resign instead?" Coons asked Barr.

"Assuming no good cause," the lawmaker added.

"I would not carry out that instruction," Barr told Coons.

Good Cause to Fire Mueller: His “investigation” is based on a Fraud that he was part of

We could go on and on, but that’s enough

Since there’s already good cause, his answer is meaningless.

Of course I like Barr wouldn’t fire Mueller without cause. But since there is cause ie...destruction of evidence and conflict of interest then I would fire that SOB in a flash but that’s the President call and I suspect that our President knows a lot more than us or the media to continue on with the charade until an better moment

I couldn’t watch it. Every Democrat is 100% on a mission to destroy Trump, any way they possibly can, and Barr doesn’t seem to be too far behind them. Witch hunt? WHAT witch hunt? Mueller’s a great guy and personal friend - and we need another couple of years to allow him to wrap up this very serious investigation properly (no - he didn’t actually say “years,” but he’s obviously in no rush).

This had better be a classic case of bait and switch, or I’m really going to have to wonder why on earth, after making the colossal mistake of putting that geriatric asshole Sessions in there, Trump would turn around and make ANOTHER colossal mistake and put THIS guy in there - because he certainly doesn’t seem to be playing for Team Truth.

In addition to being based on fraud and being run by a uranium one friend of Hillary, it is wasting taxpayer money and adding excessively to the national debt.

Fine, if he doesn’t follow the President’s order (Commander in Chief), then he either resigns or the President fires him. We can’t have a constitutional government where bureaucrats have no accountability to the ‘elected’ in office.

Later today...

President Trump: I hereby regretfully accept Mr. Barr’s resignation from consideration for the Attorney General Position....

Since when does the President need cause to fire ? They serve at the pleasure of the President.

Whether he does things that we like in his roll as AG, I think that dude is way smart.

This is more tripe from that brainless idiot Coons. Guess what, Trump doesn’t have to ask or tell the AG to fire someone, he can do it himself. With people like Coons, Bloomberg, Hirono etc, how do we not have a civil war. No person can reason or compromise with these unethical, dishonest lying people.

This Barr jerk is a bunghole buddy of that freak Mueller, so why was he even considered for the AG’s job? I think I read that McSame’s former buttboy recommended him. Something surely stinks when Trump gets arseholes like this to deal with. Where’s the push-back?

He also said

“I don’t believe Mr. Mueller would be involved in a witch hunt,” Barr said.

The nominee went on to say that Jeff Sessions, the man who previously held the post for which Barr is being considered, acted properly with regard to the Mueller probe into Trump’s campaign by stepping away.

“I’m not sure of all the facts,” Barr said. “But I think he probably did the right thing recusing himself.”

I’m really beginning to have doubts about our Trumpy. It’s simply inexplicable that he would approve of a bunghole buddy of that freak Mueller. SPIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
