All this rain will encourage undergrowth of vegetation which will dry out when the rain stops and create tinder in the summer. Another bad fire season to come.

I’ve lived here all my life. The fact is that we live in a very marginal climate, précis wise, for supporting so large a population. Regular as clockwork the news stories in the spring of drought years say the lack of rain will cause what vegetation there is to devour quickly and lead to big fires. In wet years the stories say the abundant vegetation will lead to big fires when it dries out. The conclusion? In the summer and fall we get fires, one way or the other
