This is about Section 8 rent subsidy for low income tenants. The contract the landlord signs with HUD requires them to keep the tenant in place during disruption of federal payments. The story is FAKE NEWS.

Thanks. Didn’t know that but it makes sense. Anyway, I doubt that a court would evict if the tenant is paying their share. However, they should make sure that they pay their share on time and if the landlord will not accept it they should go to legal aid for assistance. I would also have the landlord give me a letter, on the spot, saying that he/she won’t accept my payment so that I have a paper trial to show I tried.

I wasn’t aware of that. However, this shutdown and threats of future ones could undermine the program (a good thing) by making far fewer landlords willing to accept Section 8.
