Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro on Sunday said he would prefer to track illegal immigrants using ankle monitors rather than detaining them.
The former Obama administration housing chief and former mayor of San Antonio made the comments while discussing how he would deal with the increase in migrant families crossing the southern border illegally, should he win his party's nomination for president in 2020. Castro on Saturday officially launched a 2020 White House bid.
"What I believe we could do and what the Obama administration did do, I believe, toward the end of its tenure, was to look at things like ankle monitors so that you're able to monitor where people are in the country," he said during an interview with CBS News' "Face the Nation" when asked what he would do with illegal immigrants in lieu of detention or deportation.

Ankle monitors don’t work. Walls work. Hence the Democrat push for ankle bracelets.
Honduras should be invaded by US Marines. The existing government must replaced by a military governor until such time as things can get sorted out.

It scary that a former Cabinet member and candidate for President can’t comprehend this basic point. It is almost a logical inference.
...and add poison spikes so if you remove them they inject you with poison.
If we could find a metal they couldn’t break or remove then put them on the Mexican side so they don’t cause problems for American citizens; that might be an option. Till then; uh uh.
Since this is the govt we’re talking about, how much does each ankle bracelet cost? $400-1,000 each? Since we’re talking about 250,000-500,000 illegals captured/surrendered annually and it takes years to get into immigration court for a hearing, using the low end estimates the cost is $100 million a year. That cost will increase by $100 million a year added to the previous year since those caught in the previous years will still be waiting for a hearing. On top of that comes the cost of monitoring 1 million or more ankle bracelets 24/7 and the cost to try to locate the thousands, (ten of thousands, hundred of thousands), that will remove them.
It’s cheaper to build the wall.
There was a story awhile back of how in a bus station in Texas at the border, every night they had to clean up piles of ankle trackers that had been cut off.
