To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen has been charged with issuing bad checks and failing to pay thousands of dollars to a vendor for marketing materials.
Hansen, 59, of Shippan, Connecticut, turned himself into police over the bounced checks on Monday and was charged with "issuing a bad check," Stamford Police told Fox News. He was released without bond and signed a PTA or a promise to appear in court, police said.

Hansen reportedly asked Peter Psichopaidas, the owner of Promotional Sales LTD, for mugs, decals and T-shirts for marketing events in 2017, the Stamford Advocate reported, citing an arrest affidavit. The goods totaled $12,998.05 and the former MSNBC host agreed to pay for the items in full before they were delivered. An employee who worked for Hansen sent a check for the items three months after they received invoices for the materials. When the check bounced, Hansen apparently apologized to Psichopaidas and said he would make a partial payment.

I wonder if he was caught in a similar sting like he does with the pedophiles, with the cops tackling him as he leaves.
He turned himself in.

Heh. Now *that* would be fun to watch!
Sad, but not entirely.
He was probably living beyond his means, and could not give up the lifestyle..................

It sounds more like a civil matter to me.
The show was cancelled in 2008, in part because Louis Conradt, an assistant district attorney in Rockwall County, Texas, shot himself after he was caught talking to and exchanging pictures with a Perverted-Justice volunteer posing as a 13-year-old boy. When Conradt did not show up for a prearranged meeting, NBC and local police tracked him to his home. He committed suicide as police and an NBC camera crew entered his home. (From Wikipedia.)

Probably exceeded an amount that made it a crime, I’m guessing.

Ooops - I note it was a bad check. That is a criminal matter.

Bouncing a check above a certain amount can actually be a felony in most states.
Although Suzanne Somers found a way to turn it into a resume enhancement.
According to Stamford PD, Chris bought 355 mugs, 288 t-shirts and 650 vinyl decals from a mom-and-pop shop in town for marketing events he planned to attend. The owner says the goods were delivered, but Chris bailed on his $12,998.05 tab.
The owner says after the first check bounced, he threatened to go to cops. Chris allegedly offered to make 4 partial payments, but the owner rejected that deal.
Chris then bounced a second check, and begged for more time. The owner claims Chris sent emails saying he was selling his boat to come up with the cash, but a check — a good one — never came ... and a warrant was issued for Chris’ arrest.
Chris Hansen, Scum.
It could depend on if he ever received the merchandise.
I’ve known plenty of contractors, myself included, who did work and never got paid. Police won’t touch it.
If you come to my shop and steal the materials and put them in yourself you can go to prison.
If I come to your house and do the work for you and you don’t pay me the police won’t care
Weird.
Maybe she told him; “Give me $10 Million Dollars, in cash TODAY, or I will post these photographs online TOMORROW.
Do you think I wouldn’t do it? Try me!”
