Over $500. in Missouri is a felony. Many do not realize it and hang paper anyway. Too late then...

“Under criminal penalties, you can be prosecuted and even arrested for writing a bad check. A bounced check typically becomes a criminal matter when the person who wrote it did so intending to commit fraud like writing several bad checks in a short timeframe. This can be seen as a felony in many states, especially when the checks are for more than $500. If they are less than $500 and there are criminal charges, it is typically seen as a misdemeanor. The majority of bounced check cases do not involve criminal penalties because they are written in error and most people cover the expenses quickly.”

So I guess it mostly depends on the jurisdiction and how many bouncers he floated.

Prosecutors probably have the ability to reduce to misd even though the statute says 500 or more constitutes a felony charge. I’m sure they can figure in prior arrests, pleas, convictions. I’m sure they might even have diversion or agreements to make arrangements to pay back the victims before real felony charges are filed.

I believe the only way the cops can get involved is if the check was written on a "account closed." Insufficient funds is a civil matter. Anyway that's the way it used to be.

I believe Larry King was also arrested for bad checks many years back.

He must be pretty damn broke if he can’t afford that. I would imagine he must have made millions on the catch a predator show.

“I would imagine he must have made millions on the catch a predator show.”

I don’t know that he would have made millions, but NBC must have paid him pretty well, as the show was a big draw. He surely would have made much more than enough in salary to easily cover this.

It is 2019.

Stop writing checks.

And stop accepting checks.

Didn’t someone do a follow up on these “catch a predator” and find out, that not a single one of the guys they filmed was ever convicted of anything?

I went through the last book of checks in about 6 years.

This set should last longer. One routine expense went away. I write one for church offering and the rare time I can’t pay a bill online.

To Catch a Predator host busted cheating on his wife 'had a SECOND mistress - a Vegas stripper'

By PAUL BENTLEY FOR THE DAILY MAIL

UPDATED: 12:22 EST, 3 August 2011

To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, who was caught a month ago cheating on his wife with a young blonde television reporter, has also secretly been dating a Las Vegas stripper, it has been reported.

The married NBC anchor, 52, who made his name with a controversial show that catches would-be internet sex perverts, was secretly filmed on an illicit date with 30-year-old Kristyn Caddell in late June.

And now it appears he was also cheating on his mistress, with revelations that Hansen was also for six months secretly dating petite blonde Kathleen Collins, a stripper and aspiring country singer.

He was released without bond and signed a PTA or a promise to appear in court,

Why? I'm sure he could have written a check for any bail that had been required. Clerk didn't think his check was good?

He wrote multiple bad checks to this guy, that makes it intentional I believe, which then makes it criminal.
