Richard Sackler, whose family owns Purdue Pharma, the company behind the notorious painkiller OxyContin, was granted a patent earlier this year for a reformulation of a drug used to wean addicts off opioids.
The invention is a novel form of buprenorphine, a mild opiate that controls drug cravings, which is often given as a substitute to people hooked on heroin or opioid painkillers such as OxyContin.

Oddly enough in the illicit drug trade, killing some customers is not necessarily a bad thing. It lets others know you have the good stuff. Just dont kill too many.

Interesting point. One of the reasons they started to use fentanyl and carfentanil laced product is because thereafter non-laced product doesn’t cut it for that user. They have to go back to the people that have the laced product if they want the same effect they had. There’s a lot of users that get Narcan injections regularly because they either OD or are unresponsive so often. They hate it because it basically puts them into immediate withdrawal.
