He can do it from the White House or from wherever.

He doesn’t need an invitation.

Article 2 section 3 requires the President to make the address.

Sad. The representatives, though, would probably act up
to interrupt him with catcalls, etc.

Such is the maturity of the new crop of congresscritters.

Up until Woodrow Wilson, the State of the Union Address was a letter sent to Congress by the President and read to each House by the clerk of that body. I see nothing wrong with returning to that tradition.

If Trump wants to make political hay out of this, he should hold a rally, read it to the crowd, and then send the content of the speech to Congress in the form of a letter.

He should schedule an invite-only State of the Union at a theater of his choice.

I can’t remember who, but someone else had a really good idea: hold a rally, invite average citizens, and Congress.

Show up if you want, or not. Duty fulfilled.

Better yet, hold a MAGA RALLY to deliver SOTU and invite 100,000 everyday Americans to it. After all, it’s mainly to inform US of the state of the country. Rather than being the usual boring as hell laundry list of stuff that never gets done and freebies that are never delivered, it can be a hard-hitting, true State of the Union where he discusses national security, borders, and the Democrat coup.

As I predicted weeks ago, Trump is going to give his State of the Union address from the White House. I wouldn't be shocked if he even did it as a combination speech/press conference -- where he gives the address and then takes questions from the media.

You would get Super Bowl-like ratings for that.

Trump should pull a “Clint Eastwood” and give the SOTU next to an empty chair.

Hoyer mispoke.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/pelosi-asks-trump-to-delay-state-of-the-union-address-because-of-shutdown/

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer told CNN hours later: "The State of the Union is off" — but had to walk back those definitive comments later.

"Mr. Hoyer had not read Speaker Pelosi's letter and mischaracterized it," Hoyer spokeswoman Mariel Saez said in a statement.

Exactly. The rats are all going to make a spectacle of things and turn it into a three ring circus anyway. Let him have the floor and guests he chooses.

“He should do a 20,000 person Trump Rally”

I agree. That would be an excellent forum for a SOTU speech.

Saying the Secret Service and such are not getting paid and this puts the politicos in danger INSULTS the Secret Service and other Agencies: Saying the level of protection is situational, I not get paid, then I let some madwoman (Pelosi) have at the president.

And it is Congress that authorizes and appropriates funds for the government budget, not Trump.
