RE: The shutdown isn’t causing much political pain because there’s been no highly visible example of bad repercussions.

I can think of two:

1) Air Traffic Controllers are still needed. This will affect commercial flights.

2) The Coast Guard needs to be paid. Why they are considered non-essential I do not understand.

Let's lose "nonessential" for a minute; that's old language.

Coast Guard falls under Homeland Security, and our funding bill is one of the bills that is still being held. The ones engaged in public safety should be at work, since they are performing exempt functions; those who are in a support role are non-exempt and should be furloughed.

What I don't get is why they are in Homeland Security and not the DoD. They are a branch of the military, after all.

She is RIGHT. No Opening of Government till he gets wall even if he must keep Government closed for a year! This is the TEST for Donald Trump.
