Official Data Vastly Underestimates Russian Emigration – Report
Moscow Times ^ | Jan 16, 2019

At least six times more Russians are leaving the country than officially estimated, a comprehensive study conducted by the Proekt news outlet said on Wednesday.

Proekt’s report highlights discrepancies between official data from the Rosstat federal statistics agency and data compiled by countries where Russians emigrate to. Rosstat estimates 377,000 Russians left the country in 2017, the latest period for which figures are available and a six-year record.

“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security counted six times more Russians arriving in 2017 than Rosstat recorded leaving,” Proekt said. “Six times more people left Russia for 24 OECD countries, where foreign data is available, for 2016.”

OECD, the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development, groups 34 of the world’s leading economies.

Meanwhile, the UN ranks Russia as having the third largest number of people living outside its borders after India and Mexico — 10.6 million.

Proekt said an increasing number of highly-educated young Russians from the regions are leaving the country in search of better economic opportunities.

Official data from Rosstat underestimates the real number of Russian emigres because it only counts those who have officially canceled their registration in Russia — which most emigres don’t do.

The Civil Initiatives Committee, formed by Audit Chamber chairman Alexander Kudrin, previously estimated that in 2014, the real number of Russians emigrating abroad was between three to four times higher than Rosstat’s data.

That report also shed light on Russia’s brain drain, with both Russian and foreign data indicating the high level of human capital leaving the country.

A 2018 state-funded survey said that one in 10 Russians, including almost one-third of those aged 18 to 24, want to emigrate. A quarter of respondents named a relative or acquaintance who had moved out of Russia in recent years.

Rosstat’s 2018 migration data is expected in July.

And they're all coming here. The horrible, racist United States. We need a moratorium on immigration. We're under NO obligation to take in anyone simply because they say the want to come here.

Having tasted Communism first hand emigration from Russia can a be a good thing, especially those who have skills. Not likely to vote for any RATs once they get here ...legally.

I think that is what peeves me too. Not so much that they come here but that many in the younger crop continue to peddle the Putin era anti-American self-righteousness they were inculcated in back home. They'll even vote for Putin while abroad. They want their country to be feared. They just can't live in it...

Many take advantage of America while resenting it.

People who came here for asylum during the Soviet era have much better attitudes and love America not resent it. My observations.

Are they all coming here? Many are. Others are going to Germany or to the former Soviet Republics. Russians were dying to leave those places 20 years ago and now many are going back. I guess a lot of the natives still speak Russian and won’t make you learn their language. Other Russians are going to Israel, Italy, Spain, and Canada.

They poured into my area in the early 80s———got EVERYTHING handed to them, subsidized housing, including senior housing,Medicaid,Medicare etc. They were put at the top of the waiting lists for the housing because they were refugees.

Rude and pushy.

No wonder they like it here.

In the hospital I work we had a Ukrainian woman in our department, a young, rude, fat ugly thing who ate like a horse. Her husband, also Ukrainian, was a chef. They eventually moved to Florida. Another was a young, pleasant woman from Khazakstan. She was beautiful , she had long, pin straight black hair that was so shinny I swear you could see yourself in it. She was Asiatic. If she were to go to any American Indian reservation they would have said “Hello sister!’’. After all, that’s were American Indians came from. She was married to an American and left to work somewhere else.

It has been fascinating to see how tolerant this site has been of anti-Russian derangement from this particular OP.

I’ve been tagging them with “putinoia” when I see them, and boy there are a lot of these - enough to call this a propaganda campaign.

A campaign by... well, look up the types of folks whose statements are held out in these articles as authoritative, and you can decide for yourself whether this propaganda campaign is being conducted by enemies of America or not.

For example, I doubt many people not involved in the globalists war on Russia know what Proekt is or why we should care what they say. Turns out it’s the latest brand name recycle for the same folks that were pushing Soros-Clinton a color revolution there. WHAT A COINCIDENCE right?

Anyway, I’m a little tired of seeing this stuff here. It’s an insult to our intelligence to get raw unfiltered globalist propaganda spammed here unironically. If I wanted the Clinton-Soros company line I’d get it from CNN.

Russians have been trying to recruit at colleges in Colombia.
Claiming they have great jobs and so on.
But their efforts seemed to have failed due to an exposed news article

Clearly you are never around average Russians or Russian emigres, or else you’d be living among the evidence proving these stats yourself.

It is not these particular stats that are in question, but your judgment and intent in conducting an anti-Russian propaganda campaign here that has gone on so long that its continuance is itself a remarkable phenomenon.

Nobody does what you are doing here, with this level of regularity, single-mindedness, and duration, without getting paid for it. Nobody.

The question is not whether you are a plant, but whose plant?

Anyway, continue on your very predictable recycling of anti-Russia Deep State propaganda items, that it continues is again quite fascinating. That you haven’t a single anti-China item in your portfolio hasn’t been missed, either.

Thank you for your civil response. I can answer that. I have spent a lot of time in that part of the world: its arts, its religion, and its history are my passion and expertise. Language still getting there. So a lot of my posts wilp reflect that interest...

I am unhappy with both American lamestream media coverage/narratives, but also the lies peddled by pro-Putin offenses in conservative alternative media etc...And FR had become a haven for false pro-Putin narratives. Though it has been better lately. Namely because Obama is no longer president and people are feeling at least some faith in America again.

That makes your interests aligned with foreign interests, which conflict with the interest of Americans not to endure more of the pointless conflict with Russia stoked by globalist mischief makers.

As far as pro-Putin propaganda here, I have never seen any and I’ve been around a while. Don’t mistake being completely sick and tired of the anti-Putin propaganda for being pro-Putin in any way.

The US would benefit enormously from good relations with Russia and poisoning that well is not to Americans’ benefit at all. So stop the well-poisoning posts already. If you’re that interested in that culture, try to find areas of common interest and opportunities for rapprochement instead of items to stoke conflict.

I believe Russia will be rid of Putin’s klepoligarchy running the place...without any foreign meddling.

Just found this interview being shared on social media:

#Russia's state TV: Dep. Dean of World Politics at Moscow's State University:

"Unfortunately, Trump didn't reach the level of Abraham Lincoln & didn't drive the U.S. to civil war. That's sad. Hopefully, he'll become Herbert Hoover and at least drive them into a Great Depression."

Sounds exactly like what the Democrats are trying to make happen for real, word for word, without amendment.

Which is why it looks completely insane to care about someone literally on the other side of the planet saying that. If you had any idea what our own universities preach, this would be too embarrassingly mild to post as evidence of something.
