Michael Cohen, U.S. President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer, said on Thursday he paid a firm to manipulate online polling data "at the direction of and for the sole benefit of" Trump.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Cohen had paid the data firm RedFinch Solutions to manipulate two public opinion polls in favor of Trump before the 2016 presidential campaign.
"As for the @WSJ article on poll rigging," Cohen wrote on Twitter on Thursday, "what I did was at the direction of and for the sole benefit of @realDonaldTrump @POTUS. I truly regret my blind loyalty to a man who doesn't deserve it."
The attempts to influence the polls ultimately proved largely unsuccessful but shed a light on the tactics of the Trump campaign and Cohen's role within it. On the campaign trail, Trump frequently referred to his polling numbers to help fuel his candidacy

Thats all they got?!?! LAME
Almost seems like Cohen is really a white-hat
This is complete and total nonsense.
Nobody polling thought Trump would win.
He won.
Seriously? Everyone tries to manipulate polls.
OMG, they clicked on a lot on stupid internet polls and paid people to do it?
That’s it, impeach Trump.
Also don’t forget, these retarded liberal Dem morons from hell wanted to overturn the 2004 election because actual vote tallies didn’t confirm their “exit polls”.
ALL polls are rigged to some degree or another.
Nothing seriously illegal about it.
According to Cohen Trump spent money on a task that FreeRepublic does for free...Log in and post “FREEP THIS POLL”
Every campaign does this. Every single one of them. LOL!
He needs to have one who keeps his mouth shut and remains loyal to his client, whom has probably been paid many thousands of $$$ for his services.
Freeping an online polls is legal unless one of our fellow freepers are of russian ancestry ...right ???
“Rigging Polls” - uh oh, I guess we’re all in trouble if we ever followed a posted link to freep a poll.
More important is what Cohen hasn’t confirmed; Buzzfeed’s claim that Trump directed him to lie to congress.
So he’s confirming a story about a ridiculous non-crime but not confirming the story about an actual crime. Hmmm.
No, I’m Brown/Yale. Skadden Arps. I live and work on Park Ave; summer in Nantucket. I believe in diversity, womens’ rts and lbgtqrx so I’m on the board of the United Way - it pays well, too.
I’m with the Skadden - Ukraine/Manafort division. Rarefied air. We overbill for our corrupt, unethical (il)legal advice and we usually get away from it as our classmates are in the justice department. If we tell a lie or two for our clients our old classmates don’t really care; we take them out to dinner and buy the red wine. We have a good time. Sometimes they come work for me when they leave gov’t work. We don’t associate with lawyers who really represent the working man. There’s no future in that practice.
