President Trump plans to use remarks from the Diplomatic Reception Room on Saturday afternoon to propose a notable immigration compromise, according to sources familiar with the speech.

Details: The offer is expected to include Trump’s $5.7 billion demand for wall money in exchange for the BRIDGE Act — which would extend protections for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) — and also legislation to extend the legal status of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, according to a source with direct knowledge.

Jared Kushner and Mike Pence have led the crafting of this deal and the negotiations with members, according to White House officials.

One TEENSY problem: Do you really think that the final “deal” will look BETTER than this? No, the Democrats will only get MORE!

You are correct. Screw rewarding lawlessness through DACA amnesty.

“They (SC) didn’t put it (DACA) on the full schedule for this year.”

Maybe because there is a risk of Justice Ginsburg continuing to breathe long enough to vote on it.

Oh, for heaven’s sake. NO MORE COMPROMISE. If the dems do what they’re doing, it would be long before President Trump has nothing to offer. The way to do it is to sign the EO and invite the dems to the negotiating table when it’s a done deal.

There will be no deal if a wall is involved, period. Trump knows this going in. So it’s best to take a step back and watch a master wrap Chuck & Nancy around his finger.

“it shows the Dems are totally selling out the current bunch of illegal aliens”

Drive a wedge between them and their base - then back to the office to prep Monday’s next major beating for the Dems.

This is such a winning issue for President Trump to fight over. Otherwise he’d be fighting over subpoenas for his daughter’s tax returns, and the umpteenth slut that Michael Avenatti strolled out.

Really, he should keep this show going as long as possible - it is ratings gold.

Milk it for all its worth.

To answer your question....conservatives are lazy and really dont care. They look for someone else to take care of the issues, and they will check sites like this in order to glean how it is going (again, they are otherwise uninterested), and then they will never fail to offer you their critiques if you arent doing it exactly the way they think it needs to be done.

Of course we have no shortage of people that will tell you about all of their guns and ammo for when "the civil war starts", but that begs the question of why are you wholly uninterested in anything short of shooting at people, when doing that is going to take you permanently away from your comfy computer chair? Trump is expected to take the hits and be the warrior for people that obviously dont give two shakes. For most of us, we absolutely appreciates everything he does. For a bunch of others, they will turn on him at the drop of a hat, but otherwise will keep their mouths shut as long as he keeps taking the hits while they dont have to get dirty. It's just fun and entertainment on the computer screen to be turned off when it's time to go watch the game for them.

Great. These two pieces of sh-t doing what Mr. Energy is too tired to do. Weakc-nt and dickieboi. The Eunuch and Ivanka's bitch. Destroying the country and calling it "compromise".

It’s going to end one day, and if this modest proposal succeeds, no Constitutionalist will EVER win a national election again, INCLUDING Trump in 2020.

"Should have known about Pence all along too—best buds with Flake and Ryan, chaired Trump’s disastrous transition team, and creepy as heck."

______

Pence is a little weird.

“The current $5.7 billion that is requested would build 20% of a southern border complete wall.”

That is correct. I mentioned in an earlier post that the best estimate for the whole wall the last I knew was $25B and that Trump ought to hold out for a guaranteed 5 yr budget of $5B/yr. After I posted that it occurred to me that it may be difficult to secure funding for that long a time because Congress can always change it.

So, at the very least, take what you could get. Count me among those who think that payback time for a wall would be short. Each section will, at least, pay for itself in probably less than a year if you look at the economy as a whole.

Brilliant! Trump gets the money for an extension that will run out and become a bargaining chip again.

What is the ideal immigrant, from an economic perspective?

Healthy young adults, who are educated/skilled/high IQ, fluent in English, and affluent (but at least self sufficient), free of any criminal or drug abuse tendencies, and loyal to the USA.

DACA is a rich pool of recruits for such quality immigrants, already largely settled and integrated, and down the path toward assimilation.

If we go to a quality-based immigration system, skimming the cream from the DACA population, (deporting those below standards), and H-series visas for skilled workers would make up the bulk of our annual legal immigration quotas.

yes, he knows that politics is the art, that is art, of the possible.

What is possible?

There are good possibilities that are not possible without the wall.

The all or nothing thinking is foolish in the face of reality

I don’t know of course whether true or not, but rumors about Pence apparently back in Indy which would explain his affinity for Flake and beef with Flynn.

Seriously. Anyone who thinks we’re ever going to get rid of these people is nuts. That being the case, why not use it as a chip?
