I have lived in three border states since 1965 CA, TX, and AZ. I no longer live in a border state, but I very much aware of the difficulties and the dangers of living in one.

I’ll bet you got quite an education. Did you ever hear about the Minuteman Project? They started in the mid 2,000’s. It was unique because it was a group of civilians patrolling the border and reporting to the Border Patrol what they saw. They were very careful about obeying the law, and they even pioneered the idea of using a drone to watch the border. I remember that they ended up in some kind of internal strife, possibly caused by being infiltrated. I haven’t thought about them for years and now am wondering whatever happened to them.
There were two factions and did not get along IIRC
In Tombstone we ate at a cafe that had some minuteman hats in a glass case by the cash register
I believe the lady said she was one of the ones that started the Minuiteman
Project
I bought a hat, we were on our way back from the border
We met a FR guy by the Rio Grande who was/is involved in catching invaders
He is still involved, is real dedicated and still posts here
A good man
Thanks for inquiring about the Minutemen.

Once you get started researching the Minutemen, you may not be able to quit! This stuff is addictive!
I was not living in a border state when the Minutemen activated. I did support them, however.
